Trump Is Our New President: Get Over It

While you may not like the new president-elect, you're going to have to get over it if you're not going to take real action against it.

As an avid fan of politics, I would be remiss to not speak on this presidential election’s results. I for one am absolutely thrilled about the results of the election, unlike the vast majority of those who choose to involve themselves in politics in college. While I may lose quite a few acquaintances due to the nature of this article, I find that there are a few things that need to be said. Many of these will not resonate well with many readers, but they must be said regardless.

You might be wondering how could I possibly condone Trump’s election as a member of a minority group. While I am proud of my Cuban heritage, I pledge my allegiance solely to the United States of America and the Constitution of the United States of America. Last time I checked, Trump is indeed for a better America. He does not want to divide us as a people as the liberal media has implied. He is not anti-foreign, he is not a racist, he is nothing that the media has labeled him. The media was completely bought out by Hillary Clinton to further the thought of Trump being this sort of antichrist. He said he was against illegal immigration, and the media decided to label him as completely anti-immigration and as a xenophobic racist. I will, however, applaud Hillary Clinton for her complete dominance in the campaign trail. She truly had the country in her favor and made everyone hate Trump via her celebrity endorsements and media buyouts. I will not deny her that, as she was an absolute beast while campaigning. Trump’s election just showed that no matter how much you decide to corrupt the system, nothing can beat your own efforts. It also shows something about the American people.

Most liberals are absolutely going insane. Suicide hotlines were blowing up with people calling, there are riots everywhere, protests, you name it. It shows how absolutely ridiculous the left can be when they do not get their way. Leftists are so used to being handed everything and having it their way via this asinine PC culture that they have bred in the country, but it seems that that is the case no longer. The people have spoken. Everyone is saying that the American population is stupid and racist, but there a few things that need to be taken into account.

The first part is that the left’s views on immigration and minorities are completely naive and foolish. They want to let in so many refugees, so many illegal immigrants, and they base it on silly reasons. They always say that our ancestors were illegal immigrants, rapists and pillagers, etc. It’s funny how much the left focuses on fixing the past that they revert to an ancient reason for allowing illegal immigrants to pour into our country and leech off of the economy. So yes, let us allow a myriad of immigrants without background checks, and let them siphon benefits that should belong to American citizens. Let us give them the perks of being an American, without having them pay income taxes. Why stop there? Let’s have them go back to their home countries after gaining a college education that is funded by taking away aid from American citizens. Let’s make it harder for those trying to immigrate legally, and for those who want to abide by our laws to become citizens and produce for this country. Let’s just allow people in without proper background checks and admit a plethora of possible criminals into the country. See, no one wants to say things like this because they’ll just be branded a racist, xenophobic bigot. You also cannot expect to simply grant these illegal immigrants the same rights as those who are active citizens, nor take away rights from citizens to protect them. By all means, make citizenship a feasible achievement for those who pass background checks and satisfy other means for gaining citizenship. Crippling citizens to aid those who are here against the law is just morally wrong.

That’s another thing. The left is so hellbent on protecting minorities that the rights of the majority are just stripped away. See, you cannot call someone certain terms or demean them, but you can do it to anyone in the majority. The left always wants free speech, but not if it disagrees with them. They want the federal government to worry about menial tasks that can be assigned to the states instead of focusing on more important national issues. There are things that should already be implemented due to the Constitution. We need to focus on the economy and then begin to work on other issues. We need capital before we can provide free healthcare and education. It is simple economics, which people seem to not realize.

Speaking of things people cannot realize, the election results are trying to be disputed. We love democracy until we don’t get what we want. These protests are honestly not going to change anything. Go ahead. You can say he is not your president all you want, but it will not change the fact that he is actually your president. Go ahead and move to Canada like you threatened to do. America has no time for those who will not aid in America’s construction. America is not falling. Everyone is freaking out over things that have not, and will not happen. Many are saying that there have already been “racist incidents," but those are really just more dirty campaigning from the left. Some people are even trying to get rid of the electoral college because of what happened. That will literally never happen. There are so many places in the country that would lose any say in such a massive election. There’s a reason that states are split into districts, and it is so that the places with smaller populations have a say in our country’s matters. You can complain all you want, but unless the left will stop whining and actually take action (which they will not), then nothing will change.

I for one think Trump’s administration will be interesting to see unfold, but we have to let this unfold. We don’t know what the future truly holds until we actually see it. Let’s stop judging our new president for what he’s said, and wait for a chance to judge him on his actions. For all of those minorities freaking out over the election results, please calm down. You will not be deported, rounded up, exterminated or any other outlandish things the leftist media has said Trump will do. Have faith in the Constitution.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
