We all have those days when we just feel stuck. It’s normal to sometimes end up in a funk, especially if you’ve been overworking yourself. But typically it’s not very fun to feel immobilized.

Here are a few tips to get yourself back to feeling like yourself faster.

1. Do something creative

Whatever that means to you. Engaging with the creative part of your brain can be relaxing and reconnect you with your body as an instrument, in a way you couldn’t before. It can lead you to a realization you might need to make, but the logical part of your brain was keeping you from.

2. Meditate

This might sound kinda hippie-ish, but it’s so true. Meditation can be the escape from physical attachments you need. Your mind and body might just need a break from the world right now, and meditation could be the answer.

3. Go outside

Enjoying and connecting in nature can be very calming and, honestly, really clarifying.

4. Change from the inside out

Look into your physical health habits. Sleep, diet, and exercise don’t just affect how you feel physically, but they have a significant impact on your mood. If you think you are vitamin deficient or filling your body with the wrong foods, look into better nourishment. Exercise daily to the best of your ability and try methods to get to bed at a decent hour. If you think none of these things are working...

5. Talk to a professional

Seriously, talk to a doctor. If you think it’s a physical thing, bring it up with your physician. If you think there’s a deeper issue with your mental health, don’t be afraid to seek out counseling or psychotherapy. Odds are, if this is a recurring issue, that it’s not going to just stop on its own. Don’t feel ashamed of seeking out the help you need.

6. Set aside some time to do nothing

This is probably the hardest thing on this list. Often times we feel like we need to be doing something to matter or to “count” as a human being in our society. But sometimes what you really need, for your own sanity, is to set aside a chunk of time to do nothing. When the time comes, just sit there and do whatever feels right in the moment, as long as it’s unstructured, and not pre-planned. Just a little bit more freedom in your schedule can be incredibly liberating.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
