Go Out And See The World

About three weeks ago I was on a flight to France for the first time. This was a huge deal for myself and even my family. We have bad anxiety in our family and when any member goes far away it always gets a little rough. I was too excited to care though. I was on my way to Europe for the very first time. Of course once i got on the plane men and women started speaking to me in french, I was shocked I did not even respond, I just kind of stared back at them. They must have seen that look before because after that they went right into english, which I thought was pretty funny. I am going to jump ahead now to actually being in France. We stayed at what was very similar to a hostel, but was not quite considered a hostel yet. It was in a small southern town called Fanjeaux. This was such a surprise to me. Staying in a small bed with two other roommates and a shower that only had a curtain to cover you up. Breakfast in France is bread, coffee, and jam (butter too). If you did not like it, you could have an orange they supplied. This was such a new experience for myself. I am used to pancakes, eggs, hash browns, yogurt, and so many more options for my breakfast. We had to walk everywhere as well, it was either walk or take a bus with everyone for scheduled events, and once we got to where we needed to be, we walked some more. The weather was awesome, and the views were indescribable. What I saw was something I cannot really write, you have to go and take it in for yourself. The mountains of the Pyrenees, or the Mediterranean sea are views that you need to go and see for yourself. It was honestly some of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen (so far). This experience was so surreal that as I am sitting here writing about it, it is hard to even believe I got to see what I did. I also had the pleasure of making some really beautiful friends while I was there. We immediately made a connection, and our friendships just grew. We had so much planned in these crammed two and a half weeks that I am surprised I had got so close with them. I think that is a major reason of why I am chose to write about this. I suffer form anxiety time to time, especially with what has been going on in the world. I chose to ignore that feeling, and trust my inner self. I had such a beautiful time. As we were getting ready to leave tears had come to our eyes, we really did create friendships that we thought would not happen. They were there for me when the Orlando Massacre happened and as a proud LGBTQIA+ member that meant the world to me. We got to see things that I do not know if I will see ever again, and we got to see them together. Now I am home safe and sound, and thinking about that experience a smile comes to my face. As cheesy as it may seem, it was life changing. I recommend it to anyone who gets the chance!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
