With the Coronavirus spreading at such a rapid pace, things such as traveling and being exposed to large groups of people have become very risky. Those with impaired immune systems or pre-existing conditions are highly advised to limit travel as much as possible.

For those of us with average immune systems, the temptation of flying for such low prices is very, VERY tempting. My friends and I happen to be among those who gave in to the temptation.

Being a slight hypochondriac, I had to outweigh the pros and cons of traveling. Ultimately, a $50 plane ticket to Florida outweighed the cons. With that being said, as excited as I am, I am also stressing high-key about being clean and taking every precaution possible to prevent catching Coronavirus.

So, for those of you who can relate to my panic, here are some of my best tips for staying clean and safe while traveling during this crazy time.

1. Keep hand sanitizer on you at all times.

2. Do not wear a mask if you do not show symptoms of the virus. Hospitals and actual ill patients need it more than you do.

3. Keep a mini pack of disinfectant wipes on you.

4. If you are flying, wipe down not only the seat but the seat belt as well.

5. If you have allergies, make sure you are taking medication for it. Having a runny nose or watery eyes will ultimately make you want to touch your face. Don't do it!

6. Keep tissues on you and hold them over your hand each time you touch a doorknob to prevent germs from traveling.

7. Stay hydrated. If you are dehydrated, your immune system will not be at its best.

8. Last but not least, try to be cautious, but enjoy yourself! Life goes on, and as long as you are being careful, you shouldn't stress too much!

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

There are plenty of obstacles that come when taking care of kids, but it's a very rewarding experience.

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

There are a lot of really easy, common names in the U.S. and while many of those simple names have different spellings, most of the time, pronunciation is not an issue that those people need to worry about. However, others are not as fortunate and often times give up on corrections after a while. We usually give an A+ for effort. So, as you could probably imagine, there are a few struggles with having a name that isn’t technically English. Here are just a few…

Daydreaming

day·dream (ˈdāˌdrēm/): a series of pleasant thoughts that distract one's attention from the present.

Daydreams, the savior of our life in class. Every type of student in the classroom does it at least once, but most cases it is an everyday event, especially in that boring class -- you know the one. But what are we thinking while we are daydreaming?

Puerto Ricans. They are very proud people and whether they were born on the island or born in the United States by Puerto Rican parent(s). It gets even better when they meet another fellow Puerto Rican or Latino in general. You’ll know quickly if they are Puerto Rican whether the flag is printed somewhere on their person or whether they tell you or whether the famous phrase “wepa!” is said.
