So, we've all heard of Donald Trump and his crazy antics (if you haven't, then you probably live under a rock). Whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, a conservative or a liberal, I think we can all (or well most) can agree that Trump can be bonkers at times (let's be honest, the majority of the time). With a little thought and some investigating, it's come to light that Trump and sociopaths may have more in common than both being homo sapiens.
Health Guidance offers insight into what being a sociopath implies and the qualities one might have.
1. Lack of Empathy
Let's see... Trump's statement that John McCain wasn't a war hero or his comments about most Mexican immigrants being rapists or murderers? I won't go much further than that since it could get out of hand very quickly. According to Trump, McCain was only titled a war hero due to being captured and being captured doesn't justify being named a hero. I don't know about you, but I think Trump may have missed the part of McCain refusing to go home until other prisoners had been released. Also, Trump claimed that most Mexican immigrants weren't Mexico's 'best people'. In his eyes, most of them were rapists, murders, or bringing crime and drugs. Oh, but to be fair, he assumes that some are good people.
2. Narcissism
In the first lawsuit Atlantic mentions, Trump sued Timothy O'Brien, author of Trump Nation, for understating his net worth in 2006. According to Trump Nation, three people close to Trump had approximated his worth between $150 and $250 million. Apparently, being reported as a millionaire isn't good enough for Trump since he claims he's worth between $4 and $6 billion. Trump alleges that O'Brien's book cost him business deals and hurt his reputation. However, during the deposition when Trump and O'Brien's lawyer sparred over how Trump determined his wealth, Trump affirmed that his net worth goes up and down... based on his feelings.
3. Compulsive Lying
It's hard to really tell when any political candidates are lying or telling the truth. Thanks to Politifact, we can get a pretty good gauge on how truthful (or dishonest) one generally is. According to Politifact, the odd's aren't in Trump's favor. Out of 74 statements he has made, only about 25 percent have been found to be mostly true or half true. The other 75 percent of statements were found to be mostly false, false, or pants on fire.
4. Sensitive to Criticism
After Angelo Carusone set up a 'Dump Trump' campaign to urge Macy's to remove Trump's products from their shelves and his face from their advertising, Trump filed a $25 million lawsuit against him. Carusone's petition gives the argument that Macy's should drop him due to his "especially unpleasant, nasty and despicable behavior." According to Trump's lawyer, Alan Garten, Carusone's conduct was seeking to disrupt Trump's business relationship with Macy's "through mob-like bullying and coercion". Garten denied that Trump's reaction might be a tad oversensitive. Mr. Garten, I'm sorry, but I might have to disagree with you.
