Top Five Point Guards in the NBA

The point guard to me is one of the most important positions in the NBA. This is the player who handles the ball and makes most of the important passes for a team. The point guard could also be a leader on the team as he navigates his team through a game. Some might call a point guard a floor general. In the NBA there are a bunch of great point guards. There are a select few that are the elite of the point guard group. Today i will list the Top five point guards in the NBA heading into this season. This will be an ongoing series which will have the top five shooting guards next week. Let's get started with the list at number five!!!

5. Damian Lillard (DAME DOLLA his mixtape is coming out soon expect it to be FIRE!)

At number five is the Portland's star point guard Damian Lillard. In the regular season he averaged 25.1 points per game, 6.8 assists per game, and shot 41.9% from the field and 37.5% last season. In the playoffs he averaged 26.5 points per game, 6.3 assists per game, 36.8% from the field and 39.3% from 3. Damian was not voted as an all star last year by the league but was Blake Griffin's replacement when Blake went down with an elbow injury. Lillard was felt to be an all-star snub by mostly everyone and shouldn't have became an injury replacement. He lead a thought to be dead Trailblazers team to the second round of the playoffs after starters Wes Matthews, Nic Batum, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Robin Lopez who were the starters along side Lillard left in free agency. He is a rising star in the league and will only continue to be better maybe after this season he will be a top three point guard but as of right now i see him as a top five point guard.

4.Chris Paul (I thought this pic was hilarious)

Next is the assist man to many of the LA Clippers alley oops, Chris Paul. In the regular season he averaged 19.5 points per game, 10 assists per game, 46.2% from the field and 37.1% from three. He also averaged 2.1 steals per game last season. In the playoffs he averaged 23.8 points per game, 7.3 assists per game, 48.7% from the field and 30% from 3. He also averaged 2.3 steals per game before getting knocked out of the playoffs with an injury. Chris Paul has been one of the best NBA point guards for a while now, but he is starting to decline and his age is getting up there. To me, he used to be a top three point guard but now he is a top five point guard. How he does this season could rely on if Blake Griffin gets traded before the season starts. Chris and Blake are free agents next summer so they might be playing their last season in LA. Injuries derailed the Clippers' championship hopes last season when the Clippers were positive they could be a top three team in the west. Hopefully, Chris Paul is 100% healthy for the entire season.

3. Kyrie Irving(Mike Breen Voice: BANG!)

At the third spot is the Kyrie Irving from the Cleveland Cavaliers who had an amazing NBA finals performance which helped the Cavaliers win their first NBA championship in team history. In the regular season he averaged 19.6 points, 4.7 assists, 44.8% from the field, and 32,1% from three per game. In the playoffs he averaged 25.2 points, 4.7 assists, 47.5% from the field and 44% from three per game. Kyrie got injured in the finals the first time the Warriors played the Cavaliers, then returned in January. Kyrie was upset that he couldn't finish the Warriors and Cavaliers series the first time since that was his first NBA finals appearance. He made up for that the second time around. Kyrie had a phenomenal NBA finals including a game where Kyrie and LeBron scored 41 points each. Also having an amazing game seven performance including a 3 point dagger over two-time MVP Stephen Curry. This finals performance I believe will give Kyrie the confidence to elevate his play and become a top three point guard in the league.

2. Stephen Curry (HAHA you know how this exchange went down)

At number two is the Golden State Warriors star point guard and two time NBA MVP Stephen Curry. In the record breaking 73-9 regular season he averaged 30.1 points, 6.7 assists, 50.4% from the field and 45.4% from three per game. In the playoffs, he averaged 25.1 points, 5.2 assists, 43.8% from the field and 40.4% from 3 per game. He had a great season which got him the MVP award for the second straight season but another questionable NBA finals performance leaves NBA fans doubting Curry. The Warriors could have had the greatest season in NBA history but couldn't win the championship to seal it. Many people will look at Steph to see how he will respond after losing to the Cavaliers after losing a 3-1 series lead. I believe that Stephen will continue to play at the level he has been playing at the last two years, but he won't win MVP for three straight years. With the Warriors adding Kevin Durant, I can see Curry's stats going down a little bit, but he will continue to be one of the best offensive players in the league.

1. Russell Westbrook(MVP! MVP! MVP!)

At the number one spot. I have the Oklahoma City point guard out of UCLA Russell Westbrook. In the regular season Russ averaged 23.5 points, 10.4 assists, 7.8 rebounds, 45.4% from the field and 29.6% from three per game. In the playoffs, Russ averaged 26 points, 11 assists, 6.9 rebounds, 40.5% from the field, and 32.4% from 3 per game. This man almost averaged a triple double in the regular season and playoffs!!!!! He had a great season helping lead the Oklahoma City Thunder to the western conference finals with Kevin Durant, but falling to the Warriors giving up a 3-1 series lead. This season I see Russell Westbrook to have a MVP type season and I expect him to win MVP this year. He will win MVP because of one person. That person is KEVIN DURANT. Russ feels betrayed that KD left the Thunder and he probably feels worse that he went to the team that beat him in the western conference finals. This will motivate him to have a MVP season. He is already one of the best triple double machines in the NBA and adding that fire will only make him better. Imagine the things he could do. He will be nearly unstoppable next season and I look forward to watching him play next season. Russell Westbrook is one of the most dominant and freakishly athletic players in the league and he will have the best season of his career this up and coming season.

There are my top five point guards entering the season. This is an ongoing series I am doing so next week I will rank my top five shooting guards. Feel free to let me know how you feel about this top five. Let me know if you hate it or love it. I appreciate all feedback and would love to hear what you would have to say. Is this list good as is or is someone here that doesn't belong. If someone doesn't belong who should they be replaced with? I'm looking forward to see what you guys have to say and writing next week's top five.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
