As college kids, we try to stay on top of things. With classes, sports, and clubs, it can become tricky to stay organized. Many of us rely on a To-Do list to keep our lives in order, but let's be honest, many of us tend to veer in the opposite direction. We might sit down to write a paper, and realize that we completely forgot that the newest episode of The Bachelor is on. The room might need to be cleaned, but you also have to FaceTime your dog! So many things tend to get in the way of us having a productive day, all of which are completely inevitable. Here are some things we say we're going to get done throughout the day, but somehow never do:
1. "Just 10 more minutes!"Nothing is worse than having to get up for an 8 a.m. class. But don't worry, you'll get up soon...maybe.
2. "I swear I'm getting up...right now...yeah that's happening!"
The alarm continues to sound, and you seem to always hit snooze. It's 10 minutes before class starts, and you have yet to leave the comfort of your bed. That's okay, you can always try again later!
3. "I think I'll dress nice today!"
You decide to break the streak of sweatpants and a sweatshirt for just one day, but then realize it's -10 degrees outside. That's okay, it's the thought that counts right? This means back to pajamas, and off to class!
4. "I think I'll even wear makeup today!"
On top of wanting to look nice for the day, you want to complete your look with a little eye shadow! However, the idea of putting in that much effort at such an early hour appears displeasing, but at least you remembered to brush your teeth!
5. "I promise I won't get distracted"
You have a big paper due tomorrow, and you really need to dedicate a lot of time to make sure it is perfect! But your room has so many different distractions, it's impossible to stay 100% focused. Before you know it, it's 2 a.m...
6. "I will take a nap today!"
Whether or not you are extremely involved at school, college life is exhausting! We all say that we're going to set aside time to nap, but how often does that actually happen?
7. "I should set an alarm so I don't sleep too late..."
On the very few occasions that you do manage to catch a quick nap, sometimes the term "quick cat nap" falls through. We intend on setting an alarm so we don't oversleep, but let's face it, do we actually want to wake up?
8. "I'm going to wake up early and take a shower!"
Having a nice shower in the morning COULD help you to wake up, but is getting up earlier than you have to really worth it? Usually not, so hit snooze and go back to sleep!
9. "I will finish this chapter before falling asleep"
You have a reading section due tomorrow, and you're so close to finishing it! However, after a long day, all your body seems to want to do is sleep...which is exactly what ends up happening.
10. "I will go to the gym today"
This is something many people say even if they're not in college. Some days, we follow through with this promise. However, there are many days that staying in bed and taking a nap seems a lot more appealing.
11. "I will clean the room...right now...yup!"
All of a sudden, it looks like a bomb went off in your room! You don't know how it happened, or how things got misplaced, but the point is that it happened. You know you'll clean it...but maybe later...
12. "I can write this essay in one night, it won't be too hard!"
We all have busy lives in college, and sometimes assignments and due dates creep up on us. This means a late night in the library doing research and typing away! Don't let anything distract you, shut off the Netflix...okay maybe just one more episode...
13. "Today is the day I start eating healthy"
I think we can all agree that one of the hardest things about living on our own is selecting proper things to eat. We say that we will start eating healthy today, but this slowly turns into tomorrow...and then the next week...but don't worry, it will happen eventually!
14. "I won't go to Starbucks today!"
With Starbucks in such a central location on campus, it's hard not to walk buy and not get the urge to buy a mocha or and iced coffee. Unfortunately, you know you should really save your flex dollars...starting after this Double Chocolate Chip Frap!
15. "I'll be in bed by 10 o'clock LATEST!"
We all know sleep is important, especially when we live such busy lives in college. This is easily one of the biggest lies we tell ourselves, for when conversations get deep, or when homework piles keep growing, there's no such thing as an early bedtime.
16. "I'm going to start this essay early so I can have it done!"
You have an essay due next week, but how great would it be to say that you're already done? Wouldn't it be awesome to tell your classmates who are cramming to get it done that you finished a while ago? Yes, that would be great, except you're actually joining them...it's the thought that counts though, right?
17. "I really want to raise my hand more in class and participate!"
You're sitting in you're least favorite class of the day, and you know you are never the first one to raise your hand. The teacher would be s happy if you volunteered your wisdom, just once! Well, as much as you might want to and consider it, that day is not today.
18. "I should really do my laundry today!"
College students truthfully bring a lot more clothes to school than they need. Despite this, the choices slowly dwindle as we push off laundry day. But don't worry, you'll eventually get it done...yeah that will happen...
19. "I should really start saving my money."
Another major challenge we face upon coming to college is managing our bank accounts. With the freedom to spend our money how we want to, it can become difficult to budget and spend it on things we need. But your budget can start after you buy this Hershey bar...oh, and let's not forget the ice cream!
20. "I'm going to start making to-do lists to keep myself organized."
There is not better feeling of accomplishment than when you can keep yourself organized, and get everything done that you plan to in a single day! This is the dream that will probably never happen, for you become so entangled in your life that a to-do list would only become misplaced or disregarded.
