14 Reasons it is Great to be Single this Valentine's Day

1. You love yourself more than anyone else could.

No one knows you better than you do. Embrace who you are and love yourself on the day dedicated to love. Also, confidence is a very attractive personality trait so why not show it off?

2. You could care less about a commodified "holiday".

When it comes down to it Valentine's Day is a money producer. So what is this day really about? Showing those around you that you appreciate and love them or that you receive the most gifts and can brag about it on Facebook?

3. You have an excuse to treat yourself.

If you want pizza, go for it. You deserve to indulge every once in awhile.

4. You can just sleep through the whole day if you wish.

If there was a day to catch up on your sleep, make it Valentine's Day.

5. You can have a great night with friends.

Go ahead and plan a fun night with your closest friends. It is bound to be a blast and keep your mind off of romantic relationships.

6. You can still get your make out game on.

You may be single and very ready to mingle, so use human nature to your advantage and have some fun.

7. You don't have to try hard to meet anyone's expectations.

It is super common to go into new experiences with prior expectations of what will happen. If you are single no one is expecting anything from you on Valentine's Day, so live the day however you choose.

8. You save a ton of money.

Paying for fancy dinners, jewerly, watches, stuffed animals, flowers, chocolates, etc. on Valentine's Day can and does really add up. Congrats on saving your money.

9. There are plenty of other single people out there too.

There is not a better day in the year to go meet with other people who are looking for some love. You are both single so you already have one thing in common with the other person!

10. You can eat a whole box of chocolate in a judgement free zone.

Everyone deserves to indulge every once in awhile. So grab that box of chocolate or pint of ice cream and go at it. Pro tip: don't forget the discounted candy the day after Valentine's Day. Oh and also remember that the gym exists too.

11. You can decide to go on a blind date.

You are single, why not have some fun with other people who are single too? You may have a blast and get asked on another date!

12. Your best friend could ask you out to dinner.

You never know who could be crushing on you. Go for it. What do you have to lose?

13. You can't get broken up with on Valentine's Day.

Believe it or not it happens quite often. With all the hype associated with this holiday, people tend to think more seriously about what they really want in a significant other. No one wants to pretend to love someone and put in all the effort on this holiday if their feelings are not genuine.

14. You don't have to deactivate your Tinder Account.

Which is great because Tinder is totally the place to meet the love of your life, right? Well maybe not... but, at least, it can keep you entertained if you are feeling lonely.

Stay happy singles! <3

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
