The Super Bowl is Americas biggest football night of the year, drawing in about 110 million viewers. With this many people in front of the TV, marketers know it's their time to shine. Between the huddles and fumbles, it's the commercials that keep viewers awake and excited. Coming in at a whopping $5 million dollars per 30-second airtime, Super Bowl commercials are infamous for getting the attention of the audience with their clever displays. Is it worth companies a mere $15 million for just a minute and a half of commercial time? Well, with 110 million potential new buyers, I'd say so. Also, the marketers aren't just paying for the air time, but also the buzz that follows a really good advertisement.
People will be talking about the inventive advertisements for days after the big Sunday night, and share their favorite ones all over social media. I mean, who wouldn't want to spread an advertisement that features numerous Ryan Reynolds? Or one about wiener dogs dressed up in hot dog costumes? There were plenty of creative commercials to be seen, but only ten of them can make the cut as real successes. I'm talking about the ad's that left everyone needing to see it again; the ones that received the most Youtube views and flooded your Facebook timeline the next day.
With that being said, here are the top 10 Super Bowl 50 commercials:
1. Honda: A New Truck To Love
I mean, its a herd of sheep harmonizing to the 1976 classic, "Somebody to Love." You really can't go wrong with singing animals, you just can't. Oh and props to the innovative product, Honda.
2. Heinz Ketchup: Wiener Stampede
Wiener dogs dressed as hot dogs running towards their soul mates (toppings). Simple and genius.
3. Avocados from Mexico: Avos In Space
This Ad may of been meant to mock human progress, but I can only hope that in the future us earthlings are in fact recognized for one of the worlds greatest and tastiest discoveries: guac. Well done Avocados from Mexico's marketers, well done.
4. Hyundai: Ryanville
Ryan Reynolds everywhere... yeah, Hyundai has the right idea. I'm sold.
5. Bud Light: The Bud Light Party
I really could watch Seth Rogan and Amy Schumer talk about their big caucuses all day. So like every year, Bud Light got my vote. And I agree, I love Paul Rudd.
6. Budweiser: Give a Damn
Helen Mirren's formal and direct talk that shamed drunk driving was all Budweiser needed to do in order to get their point across. Cheers to that, Budweiser.
7. T-Mobile: Restricted Bling
This witty commercial was a score on T-mobiles part. Take a catchy song and Drakes charm, and you can talk about cell phone restrictions all day.
8. Audi: commander
This commercial was a goose bump inducer and inventive work of art. A former astronaut reliving his glory days and finding the meaning of his life again through an exhilarating sports car is a brilliant idea. Bravo, Audi.
9. T-Mobile: Drop The Balls
T-Mobile had another successful commercial air during the Super Bowl. This one is really just great because the Steve Harvey blunder will never get old and at least he can laugh about it.
10. Doritos: Ultrasound
Is this commercial a little weird? yes. But hey, the idea was there and it definitely got our attention.
