I mentioned in a previous article that I absolutely adore people who are clingy because it makes me feel like I'm loved and wanted, and I want nothing more than to make others feel loved and wanted as well. It was mostly addressed to those who believe they are too clingy and feel bad about being clingy, but now I want to address those who make them feel bad about being clingy.
Like I said in the previous article, being clingy is not anything to be ashamed of as long as you know your limits. There are also people who do not know that those limits exist and assume that all types of clingy are the bad types of clingy. This often leads to misunderstandings about the boundaries between the good clingy and the bad clingy. This is actually not the case; since many people love hugs and love to give others hugs, just like how there are many people who don't like hugs and don't like to give others hugs. This is part of who they are, and when people have a problem with something that is a part of someone's personality, in reality, they are the biggest problem in this case.
People should not assume that someone has a massive disrespect for other people's boundaries because they love to hug others a lot. It's just a way to express their love to someone by giving them hugs and kisses. It has been proven that the human touch is crucial for human development, so complaining about someone loving hugs would be pointless and a waste of time. While I did mention in that previous article that boundaries have to be established as clearly as humanly possible, that does not mean that others should feel bad about being clingy.
I will admit that there has been a lot of people in my life that made me feel bad about being clingy many times in the past. It became a part of me that I began to hate more and more because of so many people who thought I was too touchy or too annoying because of it. I began to suppress that part of me because of all these comments until I realized that it was still a part of who I am and no one should ever be allowed to take that away from me.
Many people still need to realize that everyone is different, so that means everyone is comfortable with different things, whether it be hugs, kisses, or other kinds of affection. Physical affection is something that everyone needs to have in their lives, so don't make others feel bad about loving physical affection (even if it is a little more than most people). You don't know what is going on in their lives or if they have gotten comments that make them feel bad about their clinginess at any time before. So, please, don't judge someone based on how much they love hugs.
