Every girl needs a guy best friend, someone who will protect you, keep your overthinking under control and, of course, make fun of you. I consider myself very lucky to have this sort of relationship in my life even if that causes the common 'are you guys dating?" whenever I mention his name. Of course having girl friends are great but its a totally different experience. I know that around him I can completely be myself because honestly he couldn't care less if I look like a slob or if I'm rocking the new Kate Spade purse. It's just him and me being goofballs together with no pressure. Thanks for the inspiration, here's to you.
A letter to my Guy Best Friend,
I know, I know this is another sappy "open letter" article but there was no better way to explain how much I value having you as my best friend. Everyone always questions our friendship, but that's okay, we're used to it. Every person needs someone to balance them out and have another way of thinking represented. Which is why our relationship works so perfectly, you obviously think like a guy and I think like a girl, making for the perfect duo. We always are on the same page and just understand each other (but seriously we're oddly similar). This friendship has impacted us for the better and made us evolve into who we are today.
Through the years, we have surpassed so much, the good and the bad. We have been each others partner in crime, pretend bae and adventure buddy. (Especially when I make you pick me up to get ice-cream at midnight.) There is never a dull moment because we always find a way to have fun, and be spontaneous. Thank you for constantly putting a smile on my face and knowing how to make me laugh. These moments are what we cherish most in life, and I couldn't be happier to have you be by my side through them all.
You always know how to make me feel better and are always willing to give a helping hand. You have been there through the laughs, the tears and the slight panic attacks, which I thank you for. I'm aware I can be a lot to handle and there are moments where you would like to scream at me, yet you remain so calm, even when I call you at 2 a.m.
You're always the first person to tell me when someone isn't right for me just as I do for you, and I value your honesty. Thank you for always showing me that I am worth more than how others treat me and that no boy is worth my tears. I know how hard it was for you to teach me this but I am starting to come to the realization and I owe it all to you. By you treating me so well, you have set an example for me that not all guys are the same, I just have to look for the right ones. I appreciate all the constant pep talks, even if sometimes that entails you telling it like it is to snap me back into reality.
I don't tell you enough how much I appreciate all you really do for me from texting me non-stop to liking all my Instagram pictures. I can only hope I am as good of a friend to you as you are to me. But on a less sappy note (because I know how much you hate it) here's to many more years of being idiots together!
