Count your blessings because I promise he'll be your greatest one.
Be prepared to become a giant pillow. He'll work himself until he has nothing left but I swear feeling his breath on your chest will make it okay that he's not paying attention to you.
Pay attention to the little things. He probably won't be the best communicator. Eventually, you'll be able to piece things together to understand what he's thinking. Be patient.
Appreciate him. He's going to love you with every bone in his body. Don't ever take that for granted.
Hug him. Hug him tight. As many times as he tells you it's time to go, he'll never reject you running back for a hug one more time before getting in the car.
Listen to him. There is nothing more soul-stirring than listening to him go on about things that are important to him. Take time to hear what he is saying and care. He'll appreciate it.
Get to know his friends. Guy time is important. It's okay to spend a day with other people. If you're lucky, you'll gain a whole group of amazing guys who will look out for you.
Don't forget to look out for those guys, though. Boys will be boys. Be a mom to them sometimes, they'll need it.
Don't expect too much from him. He is a boy, after all. Speak openly. Speak honestly. I promise he's listening.
If you want a picture of you two on social media, take one and send it to him. If you think he'll do it on his own, you're wrong.
Spend time with his family. I swear they'll treat you like their own if you do it right. Consider yourself lucky if you get to that.
Realize he's not like other guys out there. The thing is, he won't even have to tell you, "I'm different." You'll come to understand that on your own.
Lastly, I beg you not to let life get in the way of you two. Grow together.
Be adventurous, love him deeply, take lots and lots of naps, and make as many memories as possible. You're about to embark on the greatest adventure with one of the most amazing people you'll ever meet. I promise you he's not like the rest. If you do it right, it will last.
