To The College Seniors Not Graduating Yet

College isn't a strict four years and you're out deal.

To the seniors in college watching their friends graduate, your time will come. It may be difficult watching your friends move on without you, but for one, if they're your friends, they won't leave you behind. You're going to achieve everything you want just like they are. You can't really compare yourselves to them.

I'm in your shoes/I've been in your shoes. I just watched almost all of my best friends in college graduate and I was on the sidelines. I was in the crowd of parents, sisters, brothers, cousins, you name it. I wasn't in the group of graduates where I wanted to be. It sucked. It wasn't fun hearing name after name be called and going "Oh, I've had loads of classes with them." I felt like a loser.

But I'm not, and neither are you. Some people suck at math (ME!!!!), some people took four classes a semester. Some people just need longer. It doesn't matter how long it takes you, just that you do it. College is terrifying and exciting and all sorts of emotions mixed up in one. It's okay if you spent too many Thursdays in a blurred state because the bar had two dollar pitchers, you're living life. It's okay if you spent every Saturday studying for exams and just never seemed to do well enough. From someone who is not the best student in the world, everyone has to go through college on THEIR terms, not anyone else's.

Like I said previously, I felt like a loser a few times during my schools graduation. But am I? No. I went to London for a semester, I struggled really hard with math, my dad was diagnosed with cancer two years in a row. I've dealt with my fair share of ups and downs and my college career just isn't over yet. I'm okay with that. I get to embrace every single moment I have left. If that means going out every weekend or studying everyday, I get to enjoy it some more.

I don't think I would change anything about not graduating with everyone I should've graduated with. I don't think I'm ready to be thrust into the real world...or grad school...or student loan debt. College isn't like high school. You don't graduate in four years no matter what. Sometimes it takes four and a half like me, or sometimes it takes more than five. Everyone is different.

If you're one of the seniors who are onto senior year part two this coming fall, that's okay. Enjoy it. Embrace every moment you have. College doesn't last forever even though we all wish it did. Don't rush or compare yourselves to anyone but you. You'll make it to the promise land of loan debt and bills before you know it and when you do, you'll want to stay in college forever.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
