To to the child who receives my hair, you are beautiful.
You deserve to look the way you want to look. A head of hair can provide an empowering sensation, and I hope that my hair donation can provide the luscious locks you've desired.
I will no longer take what I was simply born with for granted: hair. Although some days my hair may fail to straighten or curl, I am grateful. I may want to cut it all off in the midst of the heat, or grow it back instantly when my neck is cold in the winter. I may get bored of the natural color of my hair, and desire to add highlights or dye.
These desires of mine are not selfish, and neither are yours. Everyone deserves to feel beautiful and to present themselves as they wish.
May you wear your newly added hair as a tribute to your strength. You had the courage to walk into school, play at the park, or visit family; meanwhile, you may have felt insecure due to looking different than those that surrounded you, but that's human nature. You didn't let your differences diminish you or make you any less of a person.
So every day you look in the mirror, know that you are, in fact, beautiful.
I specifically chose to donate my hair to a nonprofit organization, Children With Hair Loss (CWHL), because they help children that have lost hair for medical reasons and who may struggle financially. Without this organization, children who battle financial difficulties may not receive hair to help make them feel whole again.
Children With Hair Loss is able to send out over 300 hair care packages a year. Each package hoping to create smiles and confidence to children in need.
