Dear Mom,
I was first inspired to write this since Mother’s Day was just a week or so ago but within the past week, or maybe even the past few years, I’ve noticed that everything has drastically changed and so did my motives on this letter to you.
To begin, I just want to tell you that you are loved, more than I think you will ever know. I hear you apologizing for silly little things more than I can count on my fingers. I want to tell you that it’s ok. Don’t apologize if the chicken is too dry, don’t apologize if you’re a few minutes late, don’t apologize because you think you could be a better mom, because let me tell you, there is not a woman out there that even compares to you. You are perfect in every single way and I look up to you as if you were gold.
You are the happiest, genuine, and most loving woman I know. I have never met a person that has smiled as much as you do, even if each smile is not always real (and by the way, it’s ok to tell me you’re sad). You never pick a fight, you respect others, and you welcome each person you meet with open arms. I can see why all of my friends love you and constantly tell me how wonderful you are.
You are THE strongest person I know, (emotionally speaking because I know we’re not a family of body builders). I’m sure I don’t know every story but I know for darn sure that I have never seen someone go through so much and come out stronger than the day before. I know you will continue to grow stronger through every hardship we pass and I’m telling you that I will be right by your side through each and every one, because you’ve taught me that that is the right thing to do.
You are my mother and I would not trade you for the prettiest pair of shoes on the planet. You have taught me how to be human; I’ve seen you go through both the worst and the best and still manage to be the mother everyone wishes they had. For that, I am eternally grateful.
In this past week, I’ve noticed you’ve been increasingly down and I’m not quite sure why but just know, things get better. The sun will shine and so will you.
I love you with my entire heart and soul,
Your Daughter
To the world: Love and appreciate your mom every single day, not just on Mother’s Day. Our Mothers are the real super heroes that brought us into the world and proceeded to then give us the world. Please thank them because I can almost guarantee they care for you more than you will ever know. Happy Mother’s Day to every mom, every day.
