Being from a family of all girls, besides my dad of course, I have always wanted a brother. Regardless, I am so incredibly lucky to have two beautiful sisters who I absolutely adore: my twin sister, Helene, and our younger sister, Bethanie. Ever since we were younger, Helene and I have had this crazy obsession with our little sister. We are Beth's number one fans, and why wouldn't we be? She is an incredible athlete, super smart, and is an all-around amazing sister, friend, and person.
Growing up, Bethanie defied the phrase “annoying little sister." She was always willing to help out her older sisters and wanted nothing more than to be our friend. Some of my fondest memories of Bethanie, are of her running around with crazy hair in a gymnastics suit, dancing to Aaron Carter, and of teaching her how to do a backflip on the trampoline. She even happily agreed to let me give her her first haircut, and she would always be the dog when playing “house" with friends.
Being from the same family, Bethanie is involved in many of the same things that Helene and I were involved with in high school. Some of these things include hockey, student council, and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Watching her flourish in these activities has been such a joy. It is cool to think that our little sister is shining, in some of the ways that we did in high school, and it is fun to watch her experience a few of the same experiences that I did, when I was her age.
Bethanie is also a lot different than Helene and I. With blonde curly hair, our little sister looks almost nothing like us. She is also involved in things such as tennis and diving, both of which Helene and I were not involved in. She would live in Nike running shorts and t-shirts all day, every day if she could and would love nothing more than to be either practicing her slap shot or wakeboarding all day. She actually has hand-eye coordination (I tried to play tennis once…) and she is one of the most well-liked people I know.
Being her older sisters, Helene and I want nothing more than to see Bethanie succeed. She is the primary reason that we visit home, and she provides us with copious amounts of joy every time we are around her. We love cheering her on in diving and hockey, and we truly believe that our little sister is the cutest, sweetest girl to walk the planet, and for good reason. She loves baking, and babies are her favorite people to hangout with. Bethanie is her own biggest critic and is therefore incredibly motivated to be the best person that she can be. I can only dream of being as talented and hard working as she is some day.
So thanks, Beth! Thank you for being an outstanding little sister. You never fail to impress me with your kind heart and contagious personality. You are so so loved by both Helene and I, and I cannot tell you enough about how utterly fantastic you are. I cannot wait to see the amazing things you accomplish in high school and watch you achieve incredible things in your lifetime. You are so beautiful inside and out, and I feel so blessed to be able to call you my younger sister.
