There is no doubt in my mind that dogs are one of the most wonderful things created. As a college student, one of the worst parts in going away to school and having to leave your dog at home. My GPA might be a 4.0 if my dogs could come live in my dorm with me. Think of how awesome that would be - having a bad day and you get to come back from class and your super-excited dog is just sitting there waiting on you.
The best thing about dogs is that they are never not excited to see you. When I come home on the weekends, my dogs run up, bark at the door and spin around in circles like I've been gone for five years. If that doesn't warm your heart, well then, you probably don't have a heart.
Dogs are also super funny. One weekend, I was napping on the couch with my Australian Shepherd who likes to believe that he's a lap dog. I was bundled up nice and comfy under the covers and he just comes over and sits on my head. I don't even think he knew I was there.
They're also super protective. You're their human and they don't want anything to happen to you so even the slightest threat sends them off the edge. Or you know, if they see a threatening cow on your TV screen and try and scare that away too. One way or another, they won't let anything get you.
A continuing habit in my dogs are that they know when I'm going through a drive thru. They don't beg or anything, they just kind of look at you like "hey, how about you hook a pup up with a burger?" Being the loving owner I am, I get my dog a cheeseburger. Then, between the window and the speaker, they like to crawl into my lap, keep in mind none or my dogs weight below fifty pounds, knowing what they get when they get to the window.
Another great thing about dogs is that they know when you're sad. When I'm having a bad day, I can always count on my dog to just sit with me on the couch for moral support. No matter what I'm going through, they're there. Just as loving as if you were in the best mood in the world.
I will never be able to express how thankful I am for my super sweet pups - for the fun times, the good times and the bad times. Even if you chew up my phone chargers and occasionally pee on my rug, I still love you.
