Tips to Make Your Website More Search Engine Friendly

While it can feel overwhelming to optimize a website, by following the below tips, you can get your website higher up on search engine results and see your website traffic go up in no time at all.

Find Your Keywords…

Search engines rely on algorithms to know what your site’s content contains. These algorithms, called crawlers, will look for specific keywords and phrases that people search for when looking for specific content. These keywords are part of the SEO (search engine optimization) process, and you’ll need to find the right keywords for your business. Finding words and phrases that are search engine friendly is relatively easy; simply utilize a keyword search (Google AdWords is a good place to start) and incorporate those results into your social media and blog posts as well as on your site.

But Don’t Stuff with Keywords

As people have discovered SEO keyword searches, they’ve begun to pack in keywords to appear higher up in search engine results. Search engines quickly became aware of “keyword stuffing,” and have taken steps to prevent sites that partake in this practice from coming up in results. Remember that search engines want to deliver quality content to their users, so focus on creating meaningful content people enjoy with a handful of keywords and phrases.

Optimize for Mobile Devices

As more and more people utilize their smartphones to access the internet, site owners are finding they need to optimize their mobile sites. Search engines will specifically look for sites that are mobile-friendly to display to users, and if your site isn’t compatible, it’s not likely to appear on search engine results.

Use Headers

How often have you read a blog post only to go through pages of text without a header? Besides being incredibly frustrating, site owners who don’t use headers aren’t utilizing a prime SEO tool. Search engines will look for headers as a quick way to sort a site, which is why they’re the perfect place to put your keywords.

Get an SEO Expert Witness

You’re probably wondering why you’d need an SEO expert witness; however, you’d be surprised how many site owners find themselves in legal trouble due to SEO. Some sites maliciously libel their competitors by utilizing SEO; however, most unknowingly break the law or set themselves up for a suit by using trademarked phrases or competitors’ names in posts. To avoid finding yourself in a legal problem, consider hiring an SEO expert witness.

Making your site more search engine friendly is easy once you know what to do. By using keywords, avoiding keyword stuffing, optimizing your site for mobile devices, using headers, and hiring an SEO expert witness, you’ll find your website traffic booming in no time.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
