Typically students learn to memorize the information for the test and tend to forget it afterward. To effectively study, yes, you need to manage your time and need to set your priorities. Also, you do need to put in the time to actually learn the information. These may seem like daunting tasks but they are doable if you are ambitious to succeed and be educated. These tips may not help you get into studying, but they will hopefully help the ones who take their time to study to retain information.
1.The Memory Palace
Do you have a class that’s just asking definitions, definitions, and more definitions? Or maybe you have a page full of formulas to memorize. For these types of situations creating a memory palace is best. This is a simple technique. Step 1. Write out all your definitions, formulas or concepts on different note cards or pieces of paper. Step 2. Go around your house and place each card in different areas. Step 3. After all of those have been placed, walk around your house to each card’s location and read each out loud. This will help you associate the place you were (an easy thing to remember) with the information that was on the card and will create mental images to help you remember. Now when you go take that test, all you have to do is think tour you took around your house.
2.Take Naps
Yup. That's right, I said naps. This has to be my favorite method. After you’ve studied for a good 20 minutes to an hour, make sure to take a break with a nap. Sleep will help you organize and will enhance your ability to remember all that information
3.Start early.
This one is not for procrastinators and is a very important and easy method. If you start studying a week early rather than waiting till the last two days, it will help you to retain info better. I advise that you know when the test is coming up and plan out your week early on. Distribute a chapter to each day and take it step by step. As you go along the days, make sure to review what you did the day before for a few minutes to keep the info cumulative and still fresh in your memory.
