Season 12 of "The Bachelorette" airs on Monday, May 23 and everyone is excited to see what JoJo Fletcher has in store for us as she searches for love once again. After being heartbroken by last season's Ben Higgins, JoJo is coming back with a vengeance to find her husband among the 26 contestants who are anxiously waiting to steal her heart. Through all the love, drama, plot twists and extremely unrealistic dates during the season, the premiere episode will set the stage for what we can expect every Monday for the next three months. Since all of us are extremely excited to watch this season, here are a few tips to make the experience even more enjoyable.
1. Gather up a group of your "The Bachelorette" fanatic friends.
Who wants to watch "The Bachelorette" alone when you can watch it with people who love the show as much as you do? Make plans with your friends and family to watch "The Bachelorette" together and have even more fun watching the show unfold. This way when something dramatic, romantic or downright weird happens you have numerous people at your side to discuss with rather than discussing with yourself, cause that's just boring. Having other people with you is also a great way to pass time during suspenseful commercial breaks by being social and catching up with each other.
2. Make snacks.
This is "The Bachelorette." It's a very emotional experience. Instead of feeling bad about yourself on how much you wish you were in JoJo's shoes, load up on your favorite snacks while you watch someone else living the best time of their life. If you're feeling creative, search through websites, such as Pinterest that may have fun snack recipes to indulge on during the two hours and one minute of pure entertainment.
3. Pick your favorite contestants.
Even though "The Bachelorette" is a TV show, behind the scenes it is a serious time for the person that needs to judge and eliminate almost half of the contestants in one episode. However to the viewers, the premiere episode is essentially a beauty contest for the contestants. All the men are trying to impress JoJo, and the audience, through their creative limo exits, smooth talk, and looks. As a committed audience member, what should you do while you watch the eligible bachelors exit the limos and try to get the first impression rose? Judge them exactly the way JoJo, the bachelorette, would. What other time can you judge a group of 26 men and not have any negative repercussions? Never. Yes it is as fun as it sounds, whether you are with friends or alone I highly recommend it. Depending on how passionate you are about the contestants, you can make a bracket of each guy to see how far they will get; you should even pick a winner based on how well you think they would fit with JoJo. This is a fun way to pretend that you are the star of the show without leaving the comfort of your own home.
4. Rate how good of a bachelorette JoJo will actually be.
The way to have a successful season is to have entertaining and interesting contestants, but most importantly is to have an entertaining and likable bachelor/bachelorette. When the person looking for love is relatable and well-liked, not only will the show get more viewers, but it will also be more fun to watch. If we, the audience, thinks the main character has earned a positive opinion among us, we naturally want them to find the best person to be their spouse as if we were close friends with them and our personal opinions actually mattered. For this reason, before we go through all the work of weighing the pros and cons of each contestant, we must first consider if JoJo is a good fit for being the bachelorette. There have been many times when the audience did not like the bachelor/bachelorette, cough cough Juan Pablo, and the season was no longer fun or interesting to watch. Although JoJo is predicted to be a very well-liked and smart bachelorette, after the premiere episode based on her impressions of the men, entertainment ability, personality, and attitude towards the process, rate how successful of a bachelorette she will be.
5. Make games during the show
Anyone who religiously watches "The Bachelorette" knows the producers too well. So why not take your love/hate relationship with the producers to your advantage and make games out of their tendencies. Whenever you hear how "this will be the most dramatic season of "The Bachelorette" in history", see someone dramatically watching the sunset during their interview, or see someone putting on makeup in the mirror or buttoning their shirt before a date, that's when the predictability of the producers becomes fun for you and your friends or family.
6. No peaking!
"The Bachelorette" is not a live show and the winner is essentially picked before the premiere episode even airs. In today's world there are thousands of websites in which one can easily search for something and find the answer they are looking for, including the winner of "The Bachelorette". Even though it is so easy for someone to look up online who the final three are and even who the winner is, you shouldn't! Once you know who wins, whenever they will be shown on camera you may not be able to handle yourself and may end up ruining the whole season for someone who truly wants to watch the love unfold. To keep yourself from potentially doing this, the best tip is to not look up who wins! Watching JoJo's journey will be incredibly more fun for you and your fellow "The Bachelorette" posse.
