Tips To Help Yourself Feel Confident For Summer

Summer is approaching faster than most of us realize, which means time to break out our shorts, swimsuits, tank tops, and sandals. I love getting ready for summer, however I also struggle a little in the first couple weeks of it with my confidence. Summer time brings warm weather, and warm weather usually means more revealing clothing than we're used too in the last year. Most of the time, I don't struggle too much with my confidence; however once in awhile it tends to wash away and I feel self conscious. One of these times happens to be the start of summer.

Well, it's time I stop feeling self conscious around this time of year. I don't want to look back and be upset with myself that I didn't enjoy my summer due to being self conscious. By following these tips, we can all remain confident for the start of summer.

Don't focus on your insecurities.

When I look at myself in the mirror, sometimes I let my eyes wander and I focus on what I find to be imperfect about myself. My tip for you and myself; instead of focusing on what you find negative about your body, focus on what you find to be awesome and beautiful.

Eat healthy.

Making sure you eat a good diet will help you stay healthy and keep you energized. If you feel your weight is part of why you feel self conscious, eat healthy and you'll stop feeling that way. It's okay to indulge, just don't go overboard!

Exercise.

Keeping yourself moving in the summer will make you feel energized as well. Exercising can help you lose weight. It doesn't have to be an extreme workout at the gym; walk around outside or at the beach. It's summer time, so the weather is perfect to walk around in. Just make sure to bring water with you!

Buy a bathing suit that YOU feel confident in.

When going bikini shopping, don't focus on how other people will see you. If you feel smoking hot in a bikini, buy it. Nobody will be focused on you at the beach or pool anyway, they'll be too worried about themselves. Wear what you feel confident in.

Who cares if you show a little stomach?

Don't be afraid to show a little tummy. Everyone has a belly, don't be ashamed of yours. Just don't go overboard, be subtle about it and make sure you are comfortable.

Remind yourself everyday that you are beautiful.

Before you head out the door each day, look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself that you are beautiful. Or, compliment yourself once a day on either something you're wearing or how you did your hair; anything.

Following these tips, you will help yourself stay confident all summer long. Don't let your mind or yourself stand in the way of you having a great summer.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
