Over the past few years, America has been in a downward spiral. The message of anti-bullying in school isn't carried out through life. Once you enter into the adult world those lessons go out the window.

I'm talking about treating people with respect, spreading positivity instead of aggression online, and sorting things out with conversation rather than violence when we disagree on something. By promoting anti-bullying in schools and then society shows children that those lessons don't matter you can act any way you want to and it's acceptable.

After the election, there were multiple confrontations because of the results. People were and are still very upset that Trump won. There was a fight that occurred in Chicago. A man was viciously beaten in Chicago as bystanders screamed, "he voted Trump." This is what America has deemed acceptable if someone has a different opinion than you, it's okay to physically assault them. USA Today reported this assault.

"I stopped and parked. And I asked if they had insurance, and the next thing that I knew they were beating the s*** out of me," Wilcox told the Tribune. Video of the incident shows several people gather around Wilcox and repeatedly hit and kick him, as people on the sidewalk scream “Beat his a**,” and “he voted Trump. He stepped up back to 70 and 80, swerved again," Wilcox told the Tribune. "I was looking at oncoming traffic. He probably slowed to about 45. God was watching over for me. I rolled about five or seven times into the oncoming traffic lanes.”

This is not the only case that occurred since the election. There has been a string of anti-Donald trump protests across the country. Also, there has been over 200 hate incidents reported against minorities since the election. America has turned into a country where hatred is acceptable and peace no longer exist. This scares me more than ever to live a country that is thriving on such vicious actions. What's next a revolution? Maybe, that's what this country needs in order to weave out the hatred that is bubbling over America.

Not only does America have hatred, it also has people that are going to college campuses and shooting or stabbing people. Saginaw Valley on September 11, 2016, there was a shooting that occurred at a party near the campus. 5 people were injured and then were treated at a nearby hospital. None of the students injured were students, though.

Recently, there was a stabbing that occurred at Ohio State University. The man who attacked the students' was profiled in the school's student-run-newspapers "Humans Of Ohio State" series in August according to CNN News. Recently he transferred from Columbus State and said he was struggling to find a place to pray in peace on a large campus. At 9:55 a.m., the school sent out a campus alert reporting an active shooter incident. Students began to barricade doors and some students were sent to a shelter for protection. Artan, the attacker, rammed his car into a group of people on the Columbus campus before exiting the car and charged at others with a knife. Eleven people were hospitalized as a result of the attack. The police had shot him three times and yet he remained quiet, even when he was shot. By taking this man down the cops saved many lives that day.

ATTENTION AMERICA!

This needs to be a wake-up call that is country needs to turn this train around. Instead, of continuing to head down this path of violence as a country we need to hatred into team-work. Being able to verbalize issues without having an outbreak in violence. This streak of violence needs to end before it gets any worse.

Imagine sending your loved one away to college thinking that they will be safe. Then to pick up the phone and receive that gut-wrenching phone call. You are told that they are being taken to the hospital because someone else was selfish enough to take someone else's life whether it be on purpose or an accident. The pain that happens instantly is no accident and this a feeling that occurs more often than it should.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
