10 Thoughts You Have While Going On Your Daily Run

1. "I wonder what I'm going to eat after this?"

Running

Running has been a part of my life since I was in about third grade. Once I started at that young tender age, I never looked back. As I'm out and about running through whatever neighborhood or trail, I have these thoughts that I feel as though most runners have, but it could possibly be just me. So, without further ado these are the thoughts!

1. "I wonder what I'm going to eat after this?"

Food is fuel, yeah I get that. But, at the same rate I never stop thinking about the possibility of just pouring food into my mouth after literally pounding my feet into the ground.

2.  "Where is the closest bathroom?"

Giphy

Our bodies know when nature calls and sometimes it happens while you're in the middle of a run. Most definitely the worst feeling while running, this comes from several runs of feeling like an accident is going to happen at any given step.

 3. "Halfway there!"

Giphy

Hitting that halfway point is always an amazing feeling! You have gone through half of the workout. Almost there just keep running.

4. "This wind is awful."

Giphy

Living in Michigan during the fall is fun. The colors are all over the trees, the sun is out, it's not hot anymore, but there is always something to screw it up; the wind. During the fall the wind will gust in your face and it makes you never want to run outside ever again.

5. “Am I really going that fast/slow?”

Giphy

Looking down at the watch when you're going fast: Wow I'm flying, go me! The thought when looking at how slow you're going: "It's not me, its the weather and that five-gallon tub of ice cream I ate the night before that's slowing me down."

6.  “That cute girl totally noticed me.”

Giphy

Yeah, that girl is totally impressed at how short my shorts are, how toned my legs are, or maybe it's the weird face I'm making while I'm breathing so I don't fall to the ground. Either way, she totally noticed me. I think this one is a personal one.

7. “If my GPS doesn’t locate I’m out.”

Giphy

Waiting for the GPS to connect is frustrating, especially in the cold. If the watch doesn't locate anytime soon I'm going to go home and binge that show I meant to watch three weeks ago.

8. “Alright here comes the second wind!”

Giphy

May feel very tired, but all of the sudden that second wind kicks in and instantly the feeling of getting this run done is back.

9. “My nipples are chafing so badly.”

Giphy

This is most definitely something runners go through. Don't judge me, there have been several occasions of this burning and uncomfortable feeling.

10. “Why do I do this?”

Giphy

Probably the biggest thought of them all. No matter how far I'm going I will always have this thought and I assume other runners do too. But, at the end of the day, it's the love and the adrenaline that keeps us going. Running is what keeps our spirit warm, I will never give it up no matter how hard it gets.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
