1. Why am I here again?
I do not think there is anything worse than the first initial step forward onto the belt of the treadmill. It has probably been a long day or a super early morning, but yet we choose to be here when we can be studying, socializing, eating and even napping.
2. Why did I eat Domino’s and ice cream last night?
Welcome to college, late nights = happy calories. Whether it has been a long night emotionally or physically there is nothing pizza and ice cream cannot fix. We splurge, we all do it and at that time it is the best feeling and taste we have ever encountered, although in the morning…not so much.
3. Why don't I just starve?
There is always that quick thought as to why we could just choose to not eat and then there is no need for the gym right? Then, all of our feet hit the ground and as we are welcomed back to reality we realize if we want to live… then that probably is not the smartest idea we can come up with.
4. IT HAS ONLY BEEN FIVE MINUTES?
Those horrific days where your legs are not moving as smoothly as they should are the worst. It feels like you ran a 5k, but, in reality, you have yet to reach a mile. They say time flies when you are having fun, right? Exactly.
5. Ugh, where is my song?
Everyone has, at least, one song that gets his or her adrenaline running to the maximum reach. You originally think you are starting to get in the groove and then all of a sudden Adele or Ed Sheeran comes on and the vibe just changes. Our fingers automatically keep clicking the next button. We usually click and click until we finally get to whatever song that allows us to go from 0-100 real quick.
6. So, what am I going to eat after this?
Now that we have burned a couple hundred calories, our next meal is the biggest question. Is it socially acceptable to eat fattening foods now that we just made room for it? Or do we remain on the healthy track and compliment our workout with some veggies, salads, chicken or fish? I suppose depending on daily intakes and habits either can apply, but it is definitely a thought that goes through all of our minds.
7. One more minute, let's go!
There is nothing more satisfying than realizing that your workout time is almost up. For those who don’t know, those last few minutes are the most crucial! It is always important to give it 110 percent and kick it in as strong as you can at the end while you are the most tired. Put on a good tune and legit just sprint it out till you feel like your legs are actually going to collapse, it feels awesome!
It is safe to say that physically and mentally getting ourselves up to workout is probably the hardest part of the whole process. Once we hit the gym atmosphere and get the blood flowing, it is not all that bad. The struggle of getting there is most definitely real, but there is no better moment than feeling that sweat drip down your face! The day is always a lot more optimistic looking post-workout.
