8 Thoughts Every Human Has While Watching The Olympics

The Olympics in Rio have been in full swing, and if you didn’t know that, I’m assuming you live under a rock. Even if you don’t watch the Olympics, it is everywhere you go. You hear about it on the radio, you see it all over social media, and everyone is talking about it. This year I haven’t really had time to watch the Olympics much, but the other day I decided to try to make time to sit down and just watch some of it. While watching it, I had a lot of thoughts that I think a lot of us average Americans that weren’t blessed with this crazy athletic ability would think.

1. “How... How in the world does her body bend like that?”

I was watching the gymnastic portion and like, I have no idea how they are so flexible. If I ever did that I would not be able to move for the next twenty years.

2. “Yep, I would have definitely broken something if I tried that!”

In any sport, these athletes just look so rough. I’m so uncoordinated that I would for sure break all the bones in my body if I even attempted to do anything athletic.

3. “I need a nap from watching them run.”

I don’t know about you, but I do not run. And literally just watching these people run makes me tired. I really don’t know how they do it.

4. “I can’t even doggy paddle.”

These people are swimming so fast that I can’t even watch them. I don’t think I could even successfully do the doggy paddle… Is that even a real thing?

5. “Is ping pong really a sport… okay the way they are doing it then I guess it is!”

I would have never considered ping pong a sport until I watched it on the Olympics. It’s actually really intimidating…

6. “Is Netflix a sport? I could so win gold if it was.”

I don’t know about you, but the only way I would ever win a gold medal is if it was in Netflix, eating, or complaining about things I need to do and not doing them.

7. “Hmm… maybe I could do badminton? That isn’t too bad… Let’s see… Holy crap this isn’t the badminton I know how to play!!!”

Yep, everything at the Olympics is hard. Even if breathing was an Olympic sport, I couldn’t do it.

8. “Does anyone else think it’s ironic that McDonalds is a supporter of the Olympics? I mean I hardly doubt these athletes are ordering a McChicken and a large fry after every event.”

The Olympics are truly amazing. Every athlete in the Olympics is a winner in my book. They also make me feel horrible about myself while I watch them and eat a bag of potato chips.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
