This Year, According To Taylor Swift
Coming off of a hard year can make you feel a lot like falling off a treadmill (see below): in a never-ending cycle only to come to the painful realization you have to do it all over again. The tired cliches of New Years resolutions may seem discouraging, but a new year simply means a whole new chance to enact the power you possess every single day and truly make a change (if that's what you so desire). The year 2017 can mean a lot of things and only time will tell, but let my homegirl TSwizzle show you just a few things this year can be...

The year you kick that bad habit

New year, new me, am I right?

The year you finally try out that sport/hobby/thing you saw on Pinterest a year ago

What better way to start the new year than learning how to make your own diy candle votive?

The year you motivate yourself to workout

Great workout ideas include running on the treadmill, rolling out of bed to walk to the dining hall, and forgetting something once you're halfway to class.

The year you get those grades you want

And maybe kick that awful procrastination habit, but hey one step at a time.

The year you do something that scares you

Note: friends hiding in a bathroom and jumping out at you at inopportune times will do the trick.

The year you learn to treat yourself

Whether it's jars of Nutella, baking cookies till midnight, or watching that documentary on seagulls you were curious about, taking care of yourself can go a long way.

The year you make more time for friends

Even if it means forcing your roommate to stay in and have a dance party for two.

The year you give back

Fact: Making another person smile increases your own happiness by 100000%

The year you stop apologizing for who you are

Because who you are is pretty awesome, and if someone can't see that it's their problem, not yours.

The year you stop caring what people think

The view is pretty great when you're dancing on your own (in a onesie is recommended).

The year you overcome your battles

And realize that it's okay to not be okay.

The year you fall in love

Even if it's simply falling more in love with yourself.

The year you realize you can do ANYTHING

You, yes YOU! You are a fully capable work of ART that has the ability to create, inspire, invent, and accomplish literally anything you set your mind to. Chances are, the only thing in your way is you.

The year you don't give up on yourself

Because even when there are hard times...

You'll always have people there to help you Shake it Off

Here's to an amazing 2017

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
