Group chats are amazing, and often I feel like they are bashed on for no reason. There are a lot of good sides to them, and let's be honest, it can be a lot of fun. It's kind of like a party, but you're really all just in your room watching Netflix sending each other funny videos, it's great.
Personally I have a few group chats with my friends and it's just nice way to communicate. Actually, during the school year, a bunch of friends and I set up our own group chat over Facebook, and months later we are still using it. Just random things here and there, but a great reminder for you to keep in touch with your friends!
Here are a few more reasons why I think everyone should have a group chat:
1. It's super convenient.
You can add whoever you want and no one gets left out. Add 10 people, or maybe just your select few. Whatever you want.
2. It's fun.
Everyone is bound to have a good time, I promise the messages never get annoying! Okay, I'm lying. It can get overwhelming at times, but it's worth it.
3. If you're really bad at texting,
you only have to reply once. I admit that I am horrible at texting, so these group chats really save me.
4. Group Chat Names,
You can come up with a clever name for the chat group. Personally, this is my favorite part.
5. You can always mute the conversation.
If you want to escape for a little bit, you can always put it on mute without leaving. No one will ever know.
6. It makes you feel cool and popular.
Looking at your phone and seeing 80 unread messages can do that to a person. Or, all those text messages can be really annoying to look through. But it's fun still, trust me.
7. Screenshots.
We've all sent screenshots of things to our friends, embarrassing text messages, funny posts-- we've sent them all. What's great is that in group chat, you only have to send it once and everyone can read it.
Give it a try if you've never had a group chat, maybe you'll find yourself in my shoes, texting your friends till 3 in the morning about random things. In the end, group chats are just fun. You can make it as active as you want to, it's up to you and your friends. I find it fun, and a great way to keep in touch with your closest friends and plan for upcoming events. They aren't as bad as everyone says, I promise.
