Everyone has those moments in life where they are in a "funk," meaning every day feels like the same day with no excitement. Maybe too many changes are happening at once, so you find yourself stuck looking at the past being way better than your present. Whatever "funk" you're feeling right now, here are some things to keep in mind to get you through:

Stop Doing The Same Things

"Nothing lasts forever, whether you're doing well or you're doing bad" - Unknown

"If you do not like where you are, move. You're not a tree" - Unknown

"Insanity means doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result" - Albert Einstein

If you do not like the way your life is going, CHANGE something. Nothing will change or get better if you keep doing the same thing every day or hanging out with the same people that do not make you feel alive.

Let Go & Accept Change

"The past is a nice place to visit, but not a good place to stay" - Unknown

"I always did something I was a little not ready to do, that is how you grow" - Marissa Mayer

Some people love change, and some people dread it like the plague. Learn to love change or accept it. If you're always reliving the past, you're missing out on making your present great. Be excited for your life, every day.

Your Thoughts Become Your Life

"What you put out is what you get back" -Unknown

"I wonder how much of what weighs me down is not mine to carry" -Unknown

Put good things out into the universe! Start writing about the things you want to happen in your life and work toward them coming true.

Stop all your negative thoughts no matter how things are going in your life, your attitude is everything. You cannot expect good things to happen if you're always expecting the worst thing to occur. Some people like to say:

"Expect the worst and hope for the best" to avoid disappointment. I somewhat understand them, but by expecting the worst you're taking away your chance to hope for the best.

Surround Yourself With The Right People

Along with what thoughts you put in your mind, who you surround yourself with determines your life. Give yourself good company--people who lift you up, listen to you at 2 a.m. when it feels like everything fell apart, and people who make you feel alive and happy.

Pick friends who do these things:

Do Not Think You're The Only One

Lose the mindset that you're the only one in life going through a "funk" or a hard time. Everyone is going through something you know nothing about. Most people usually do not post all their issues on social media for the whole world to see. Many people are going through what you're going through or have gone through it before. According to E! News even Britney Spears gets anxiety and worries a lot. That's right, Britney Spears. So never think you're alone in anything or that you cannot get through it. You're better than that.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
