The cold weather hit and instantly people get stuffy noses, sore throats, and 30$ copays at the walk-in clinic. For college kids fall is just a reminder that college has officially destroyed our immune system and we are paying for the classes we attend. Here are some things that won't help you avoid getting suck, but may make this season a little easier.
1. Rest
If you don't have a ton going on, or even if you do, make sure that you are getting plenty of sleep at night and maybe even carve out some time for an hour nap.
2. Warm teas or cider
Coffee is a must, of course, but try replacing at least one cup of coffee with a WARM tea or apple cider. These are sugary, but not a thick so it's a little softer on your throat than a coffee.
3. Dayquil, Nyquil, Zyrtec, Repeat.
If you are trying to avoid a clinic trip, start taking some antihistamines to try and help fight your illness.
4. Water
Everyone says it, no one does it, but drink as much water as you can. This not only keeps you hydrated, but also makes your throat feel so much better.
