Christmas is a special time of year when people spend time together and it is overall a jolly season. However, for many, Christmas can be very stressful if you don't know what to purchase for your loved ones. I know for me, picking a present for my boyfriend always seems like it should be the easiest, but is actually the most difficult. I am also super competitive in giving the best gifts, which doesn't make things any easier. Here are a few ideas that will hopefully get those creative juices flowing in your head for that perfect gift:

1. Whiskey Barrel.

If you have a guy that loves his whiskey this could be a fun gift for him! Instead of buying the same Jameson he can make his own.

2. Memorabilia from his alma mater.

Most guys take pride in their school, get them a new blanket or sweatshirt to show off their accomplishments.

3. Pick an activity.

I know as I get older my go-to gifts for people tend to be activities we can do together instead of items they don't need. Take him to a concert, a sporting event, a mini vacation, or check Groupon for activities you can do locally.

4. An autograph from his favorite celebrity.

Whether he likes sports, movies, or music an autograph will make him literally jump for joy. Check Ebay, but make sure it comes with a certificate of authentication.

5. Watches are key.

If your guy dresses in suits or basketball shorts everyday there is a watch that will fit his needs. Watches are a nice gesture and are similar to buying a woman jewelry.

6. Any kind of electronics are fair game.

Or even electronic accessories! Phone accessories, Amazon Echo, iPads are all popular must have items. Anything tech-y is a for sure love.

7. Don't think of toys just for kids.

Go for the big boy toys. Drones are ever popular now as long as maybe something for their truck or motorcycles. Accessories for big boy toys are great too. Weather-tech floor mats or guns of any sort are always a good choice.

8. Video games.

Completely self-explanatory. Most guys love their video games, just make sure you get them one they don't have yet and that they would actually play. They are too expensive to get them the wrong type of game.

9. Necessities.

Clothing may not be too exciting but in the long run they will appreciate it. For one, now they don't need to go shopping and secondly can anyone really have too many socks or nice polos?

10. Be crafty.

If you are a crafty person these gifts are always most loved. I have made paintings, items out of shotgun shells, or even the classic "love coupons."

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
