The Uses of Healing Crystals

For some, the idea of using crystals and rocks as a way to cure ailments and to enhance a positive quality one might possess seems crazy and too good to be true. But I personally believe in the magic of crystals and the natural properties they have to give to us. I've used many types of crystals to help aid my anxiety, depression, and carpal tunnel; as well as to help my creativity flow or create positive energy. Research has shown that in ancient cultures, healing crystals have been used for medicinal and healing purposes for thousands of years. Ancient Egyptians buried their dead with a quartz crystal placed on their foreheads to help guide them safely into the afterlife. Ancient Greeks rubbed crushed hematite among their soldiers’ bodies before entering battle believing it made them invincible. Lastly, in India, Aryuvedic medicine considers crystal valuable for healing emotional and metaphysical imbalances.

I have compiled a list of common crystals and their uses to get you started on your journey. There is a special crystal for everyone.

1. Agate - Stability. Balance. Clarity.

Agate is great for achieving stability and balance in many aspects of one's life. Agate is also believed to help overcome negative emotions by bringing love into the chakras.

2. Amber - Clearing. Healing. Protection.

Amber is powerful yet gentle. Amber aids in physical self-healing, emotional healing of depression, and environmental clearing. I use amber to help my joints and aid my carpal tunnel, I wear a bracelet on my right wrist and it helps the pain go away. I also wear amber around my neck on most days when I am feeling depressed and anxious, which helps open and cleanse all of my chakras.

3. Amethyst - Protection. Purification. Spirituality.

Amethyst is a very powerful and protective crystal. It is a natural stress reliever and encourages inner strength. Used in Ancient times it helped recover both physical addictions and addictive relationships, and became known as the "Stone of Sobriety". Amethyst is strong in transmuting lower vibrations to higher frequencies, transforming negative energy to love energy.

4. Citrine - Abundance. Emotional Balance. Chakra Cleanser.

Citrine is joyful. It can help one to overcome depression, release anger, and learn effective communication skills. It can activate one's imagination, bringing more creative visions to a clearer mind.

5. Rainbow Fluorite - Stabilizing. Grounding. Harmonizing.

Rainbow Fluorite is a highly protective and stabilizing stone, often used for grounding and harmonizing spiritual energy. It heightens mental abilities, assisting in rapid organization and processing information, and can bring mental clarity and stability to a chaotic situation.

6. Jasper - Protection. Balance. Creativity.

Jasper is known as the "supreme nurturer." It sustains and supports in times of stress, and brings a sense of tranquility and wholeness. Jasper creates unity in all aspects of one's life. It is also a stone of protection and absorbs all types of negative energies.

7. Labradorite - Strength. Transformation. Intuition.

Labradorite is highly mystical and heightens intuition and enhances psychic abilities. It is protective against negative energies, balancing, strengthening and protecting the aura and sealing the aura from energy leaks. It is also a stone of transformation and change enhancing strength of will and feelings of inner worth.

Rainbow Moonstone connects us to Divine Inspiration, and channels it into our own intuition. This stone encourages introspection and judgment, making it easier to make decisions. It also enhances one's emotional vision, bringing greater creative abilities and freedom of expression.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
