Mostly being known for their blue "Smurf Turf" Boise State has some other things that people may want to recognize. Boise State has the third highest winning percentage in all of college football. With a .724 winning percentage in the NCAA Division I FBS, Boise State should be considered a serious contender whenever they start a season. With a successful program comes with many trophies as Boise State has to show for, going 10-5 in bowl games and currently holding a 3-0 record in the Fiesta Bowl. The Broncos also have some of the most historic wins in NCAA history being underdogs for almost every big game they come into. If it's beating an Adrian Peterson driven Oklahoma in the Fiesta bowl on a last second Statue of Liberty play, or beating down Arizona in Arizona to claim their third Fiesta bowl victory in school history.
As seen Boise State likes to stay true to their heritage of trick plays and hard nose football. Almost always having a great defense and phenomenal run game, Boise State has also produced the most winningest quarterback in NCAA Division I history in Kellen Moore. Moore finished his collegiate career with a 50-3 record, a .943 winning percentage. Moore also led a Boise State team to number 2 in the AP poll for the first time in school history in 2010. Boise State is a somewhat fish out of water playing in the weaken Mountain West Conference winning the division 11 of the past 14 seasons. Boise State has proven time and time again that they can compete with any competition that comes their way whether it be Oregon, Oklahoma, or Arizona to name a few. Over the years they have begun to gain more respect from the AP polls finishing in the top 25 ten times over the last twelve years. Not playing in the SEC or Pac-12 is a huge disadvantages due to things such as television and even scheduling. The Broncos due have a problem not playing much difficult competition every season due to being in the Mountain West Conference, but when playing teams of competition they show that they can not only compete with the best, but win. Since 2000, Boise State also has the best winning percentage at home compared to any school in the nation with a 92-4 record (.958).
The Boise State Broncos have also had many athletes go pro to the NFL over the course of the schools history. Current Broncos in the NFL include Doug Martin, Matt Paradis, Jamar Taylor, Jay Ajayi, Kyle Wilson, Shea McClellin, and many others throughout the years.
At the end of the day, Boise State may always be the underdogs, but they will always come out on top. With phenomenal coaching and excellent scouting Boise State continues to get better and will be back in a bowl game this season for their 14th straight bowl game appearance. Go Big Blue!
