As spring break approaches and all you ladies start panicking about your lack of preparation thus far for your upcoming trip, just take a step back and get excited before you do anything else. We all make excuses not to work out when clearly we want to be fit as can be, and at the same time don’t check to see how the bikinis are fitting until three days before. Stop your panicking for a hot second because we have time people. I am about to make your countdown to spring break far more exciting and productive than you could ever imagine.
Step one in the spread break preparation process, maintain a well balanced diet that does NOT consist of starving yourself. There is absolutely no need for that, just make some slight changes or substitutions. For example, carbs. Yes, there are many days where I claim that bagels are my best friend and a bacon egg and cheese can solve any problem, but I am changing my mind (for now at least). Instead of a warm fluffy bagel on a Saturday morning (sad I know), how about a rice cake with peanut butter, or something of that sort. Smoothies are great too, just think about how many calories you’ll be saving.
And then there’s the exercise aspect. I have always been a strong advocate for this, but since spring semester began I have used every excuse not to work out. And when I say everything, I mean everything. I do have to say though, it’s not one hundred percent my fault. For starters, I was one of the unlucky ones who was struck with the plague of strep throat, then casually had an allergic reaction to the medicine, you know my usual life events. Oh and then sorority recruitment. Yeah that really takes the life out of us. But anyway, now that I no longer have a swollen throat nor am I covered in hives, I believe it’s time to get back on track with the road to spring break.
I don’t know what tends to work for all of you, but my plan is to go to my classes completely dressed and ready for the gym. This will leave me with no other choice but to head to the gym while I’m out and about during the day. And if I fail to do so, I will just be left feeling a great deal of guilt, and probably feel like a fat lard (whatever that even looks like).
Oh and before you do anything else, you better be getting excited for your upcoming adventure! Wake up and smell the freedom, spring break is about to be lit. Let’s just hope we can all make it through these next couple weeks of exams, papers, endless exercise, and no bagels (sigh).
