Many people have been in relationships for so long that they forget about what made it work in the first place. Being single isn't always fun, but it's taught me a lot about relationships. Let's just allow the following be a refresher for those in a committed relationship, and a tip for those about to get into a relationship.
Trust is something I think is crucial to a healthy relationship. So many times I will hear people talk about how they question what their significant other is doing, or where they are. My question is why? Why are you in a relationship or pursuing someone you can't trust? Why, if you have doubts, are you talking behind your boyfriends back instead of confronting him and trusting that he will be honest with you and tell you the truth? Maybe I've just been single too long, but wouldn't there be less drama in your relationship if you actually had faith and trust in the person you're with? Another thing on trust, if you're in a relationship you shouldn't only trust your significant other physically, but also on social media. You don't need your boyfriend's passwords and he doesn't need yours. So, be honest and trust your boyfriend or girlfriend for the sake of less drama in your relationship.
If he can't respect girl time then he isn't for you. Oh and guys, if she can't respect bro time she isn't for you either. If my past relationship and being single has taught me one thing it's that I will never choose a guy over my friends again. That doesn't mean I'm going to cancel plans with a guy to go hang out with my girls. What it means is that, if I have plans to do something with my girls, I'm not going to bail on them last minute because he wants to do something. The world doesn't revolve around the girl though. If he has plans with a boys he, has every right to see them. You don't control him and he doesn't control you. So give him space when he needs bro time and use that time to kick back and chill with your girls.
Don't blow up your significant others phone when you aren't with them. Although you are a big part of their life, you aren't their whole life. The last thing you want to become is a distraction from school or work. Not to mention it could become annoying to the other half of your relationship. For some people, steady conversation throughout the day works. Just don't over do it and send multiple text messages if they don't answer. Stop waiting for a text back and go do something. Your life doesn't revolve around what they are doing every second of the day.
So guys if she treats you like a Prince, treat her like a Queen. Same thing for the ladies. If he treats you like a Princess, treat him like a King. Trust the person you're with and don't overthink too much. Take time to yourself. You don't have to be with your significant other all day and all night. Don't use their phone as a tracking device and text them all day every day. Remember, back in the day, cell phones didn't even exist and somehow your parents survived while dating. Don't focus on the negative completely though. Be positive in your relationship. Some things you should do, remind them why they are yours and have fun.
