We all know the feeling. An amazing weekend that just doesn't last long enough.
Cue these symptoms of the Sunday blues:
When it's Sunday morning and you are still getting over last night's party.
You take a look around your house and it's probably trashed, people sleeping on the floor, cans everywhere; or you wake up in your dorm with no pants on and your roommate is definitely judging you. You know the deal, all your Sundays are the same.
When you finally get out of the house, trying to find some inspiration to do schoolwork.
But it is sooo hard. All you can think about is last night and the night before. The cute boy/girl that kept eyeing you and how that one dude smelled really weird. The party was sick! It seemed like everyone was there and that it would never end.
You go online and see the millions of emails you missed from your professor.
Why? Why do they have to send so many emails on the weekend? Don't they have anything better to do?
And you just want to give up and drop out.
You try to reason with yourself, working retail for a few years wouldn't be so bad, would it? Maybe I would get promoted to manager of McDonald's. That would be cool.
Then Sunday comes to an end. Walking into class on Monday and the professor has a new lesson on the board.
What is this?? Letters in Math? I have to write a paper on Socrates? Who is that? Why do I have to do this? What is the point? Honestly , why am I even going to college? A whole life worth of thoughts can stream through you head in the split second it takes to open the door and see everyone staring at you.
Trying to understand the new lesson.
At first it is funny at how incomprehensible it is, but then you realize you are going to be tested on this in a few weeks and HOLY CRAP its is nerve wracking. Things move so fast in college you hardly have time to understand something before you are onto the next lesson!
But finally, realizing there will be another weekend soon.
And that is what school is about right? Learning as much as you can on the week days and on the weekends giving yourself the break you deserve. Taking some time to really enjoy life. Even if it is not partying, go hiking, call your parents, go shopping, practice yoga, go to the gym. Do something that makes you happy this weekend, because you truly deserve it. And while you are in college, your happiness, can take a back burner to your studies. Remember your mental health, and that everyone deserves a break.
