12 Things You'll Experience While Moving Out Of Your Apartment And Into A New One

As exciting as getting a new place is, packing up the old one can be a real hassle. You suddenly realize that all of your useless items you shoved into strange places around your house need to find their way into boxes to be transported. As I'm currently going through this moving process on my own for the first time, I've experienced these stages first-hand.

And as if you weren't tired of moving out after all of this, you still have to move this stuff into your new place. Sheesh.

1. "Oh my god, I'm moving out in a month."

That first sudden realization that you won't be in this house for much longer and you need to get up off your lazy butt and start doing something.

2. "Since when did I have so many CLOTHES?"

You never had outfits to wear the entire year, but now, you've found at least thirteen new shirts you didn't know you had.

3. "Seriously? Who just bought milk?"

There are two options here: eat six bowls of cereal this week, or throw it all away. Hmm... where are the Fruit Loops?

4. "We need more boxes."

I know we just went to Walmart for boxes two days ago, but we need more. Again? Really?

5. "Who bought this pan?"

I don't remember buying these... did my roommate buy them? Well, either way... I'm keeping them, because why not?!

6. "Didn't I just sweep this floor a week ago?"

I know I just swept this recently so, why does it look like it's never been cleaned before?

7. "I think I made this box WAY too heavy."

Instead of unpacking some of it, I'll just call over someone who is able to lift this for me.

8. "Bubble wrap party!"

You never knew popping the bubbles on bubble wrap could be so fun... until you discover you've wasted half the roll.

9. "Aww... I was looking for this all year."

Oh, the things you'll find while packing. Good memories are guaranteed to be found like buried treasure.

10. "My room has never looked this empty..."

After everything is packed away, your room feels deserted and barren. It's kind of scary, but also kind of refreshing.

11. "Why am I sweating?"

I actually had no idea that moving was considered exercise... or maybe I'm just out of shape.

12. "Wow, I might actually miss you a little."

Even though you hated living here, you feel a small twinge of sadness as you walk out for the last time. You might not miss the living space itself, but you will miss the memories.

Moving can be really stressful for most of us, but you'll be okay. If I can do it on my own, so can anyone. Just remember we all experience some of these moments while moving, and it'll be over soon. The feeling of sitting down in your new apartment, with everything finally put away will be unmatched.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
