It's that time of the year: flu and cold season.
It's the season that we all dread and fear. There's no way to escape, there's no chance, nobody will walk away unscathed or untouched by disease.
You can try your hardest to clean and avoid the flu, colds and other seasonal illnesses, but there is no hope. Every college student knows the stages of being sick at school and how it's awful.
1. When you try to avoid getting sick at all costs because you DO NOT have time for it.
Bleach all surfaces, clean your sheets wash your hands until your skin is dry; you know the drill. You can't be sick because you have exams next week. In reality, though, there's not enough bleach in the world to protect yourself.
2. When you can feel the first stages of illness coming upon you.
You wake up with a sore throat, the small cough begins and your body aches. You feel like a 100-year-old man whenever you move or breathe.
3. You're in full blown denial.
Mind over matter: you're not sick, you can't be sick. It's just a cold. HA, you're lying to yourself, just you wait.
4. You think you can handle it; you're an adult and can handle anything.
You take some Motrin, take a shower and cuddle up in bed. You eat lots of soup and drink a lot of water.
5. Then it really hits and you realize that you can't handle anything.
You want your mom and your bed at home. You want chicken soup and tea brought to you in your bed.
6. Your symptoms get worse.
It's no joke, folks. Your cough gets worse and your aches get worse.
7. And worse ...
It goes from "no joke" to full-out death. Your fever sky-rockets and your body is in full-out war mode.
8. You look up your symptoms on WebMD and you accept your fate.
Now is when it's going to end. You will never walk outside again, you will never feel sunshine on your face.
9. Then, magically, you start to feel better.
Antibiotics are a gift and blessing to the earth.
10. You can finally breathe without your whole being hurting.
You shout for joy and the whole world is a wonderful and beautiful place.
