You most likely have picked up by now that women don't necessarily know how to genuinely love themselves -- which also leads out to act on adding comments of other women on what they lack and/or have. Friends of mine shame themselves for their body image and often even take a pick at mine, which I've learned to let go through and out the other -- you should too, and here's why.
It's in my family tree to have the characteristics of being tall and skinny. I'm 5'6" and weigh 115 pounds. I often get comments saying that I need to eat more food, asking if I suffer from anorexia or just flat out ignorant statements calling me "Bones" while the list goes on. While hearing this kind of negativity, I found it hard to be comfortable in my own skin. Like many other women, I had the tendency to envy what others had but as time went on, I accepted that this really is not something that I could change. All this really has to do with are my genes and fast metabolism. It is something that I have a love-hate relationship with and it took me 19 years to actually learn how to love myself and the skin I'm in.
While scrolling through Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr, I notice that I see instances where people pick or envy another woman's body image. Like I said before, I can't sit here and say that I've never wanted what another woman has, but over the years I've learned that mindset isn't something that you want to keep around. Not only is it advertised all around us in mainstream media -- commercials, magazines and so forth almost engrave in us that "skinny" is the only image that is seen as attractive. That's not at all how it is -- not one of us have identical body figures. The "perfect body" isn't obtainable, in my opinion.
Society tries to teach us how to despise special parts of yourself that shouldn't be altered or hated. Self-love is the best kind of love. Once you become comfortable and confident with your own self, there's no stopping you. It's without a doubt, fun to act like you're the human embodiment of perfection. So go right ahead and try it, life is too short not to fall in love with yourself and become a better you.
