A Reminder:

We live in an everchanging world. We learn that time seems to stop for no one, despite anything we may be going through. Due to this, it is normal to accept and understand the fact that there will be plenty of times where we lose ourselves. Right now, you may be beaten down and broken, trying to pick yourself back up, or it may be quite the opposite. You may be thriving, fulfilling your goals and exceeding expectations. Whatever your case may be, stop for a moment. Take in to account who you are, what you are doing, and where you intend to go.

Each experience, be it seemingly significant or not, has a plethora of effects on the shaping of our personalities and the ways we respond to those around us. Every moment counts, and each of these experiences are gifts. As life moves rapidly, we often forget to take the time to reflect on our daily encounters and on the things which mean the most to us. As you move throughout your day, be mindful of who you have surrounded yourself with. Show appreciation to those that you love and care about. Remove the negative influences from your presence, and extend your support to those who have supported you.

It stands to reason that the older we grow, the more challenges we are faced with. Our lives change, as do the lives of those around us. People resemble seasons-they come and they go. You create fond memories with your friends that last a lifetime, and if you are determined enough, you continue to do so. It is crucial to live for the moment, because you know you will never be in that exact time and place again. Laugh every chance you get, and cry when you need to. Let spontaneity take precedence over fear, and allow your drive to take you places you never thought possible.

Do not let false rumors or the opinions of others control your thoughts and actions, for you are your own person and are free to do as you please. Acknowledge what plagues you and what has set you back in life-without acknowledgement, ignorance will allow you to go nowhere. You must accept your past and embrace your future, because you do not know what good it is holding until you look for it.

As you are cautious of the feelings of others, remember that it is ever so important to take care of yourself. Never be ashamed to do what makes you happy. Do not live in fear of judgement and scrutiny-it will only hold you down. Step out of your comfort zone and continue to persevere. We all have a passion, though many times we are afraid to take the next step in pursuing it. In order to survive in a world that seems to constantly throw curveballs in your direction, you must ignite the flame and push yourself. If you do not push yourself, you will achieve nothing.

The impact of reflection is vast. It creates depth and allows one to receive a better understanding of themselves. The next time life becomes too overwhelming, take time to reflect. Recognize your accomplishments and your losses, and continue to work with yourself. You can never stop improving.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
