Society has given up on themselves, plain and simple.
We no longer think for ourselves, as we allow others to influence our thoughts by using our fears against us. We have lost ourselves in Man's race against the Machine, submitting our souls to a black void lodged into the disparity of society.
We no longer have the hope that things will get better because for some reason, it feels as if nothing really will. We have developed as a whole, yet have classified each other based on skin, religion, sexual orientation, etc.
For some odd reason I will never be able to understand, we feel as if we will be safe from danger if we surround ourselves with a wall to keep others out. We feel as if it's okay to shun someone for the color of their skin. We feel as if it's okay to hate others because their religious beliefs aren't the same as others. And for some reason, we feel as if it's okay to hate others because they have the ability to choose who they love -- whether male, female, both, or neither -- and you can't seem to wrap your head around it.
We are all the same, yet all we seek are differences.
We believe ourselves to be a diverse and loving species, yet we tear each other apart if our mindsets aren't the same.
When will society begin to realize that our growth depends on our acceptance for each other’s similarities and differences?
Society did not teach us to hate. We taught ourselves to hate. When we are not familiar with something, we create stereotypes so we can have excuses for our wrong-doings. We are unable to own up for our mistakes because that would mean that we are a flawed species.
So instead, we began to fear each other based on our differences. We choose to hate those who love who they want to love, regardless of gender, because it's easier to target those who have a voice, but are not heard.
We can’t grow as a species if our goal is to destroy the human soul. No boundaries existed until we chose who to shun and who to accept. The fear that impales the soul of humanity is the same fear that stunts the growth of society. We began to fear what others think of us because the anxiety of being “different” embeds itself into our minds to remind ourselves to be a conformed zombie like the rest of society.
When did hate become the only answer to life's setbacks?
I can answer that for you. It is when we gave up on ourselves.
