It has been a misconception since the beginning and apparently an extremely awkward topic to bring up once you've hit college. Who says there's so much wrong with not being sexually active. It's a choice that can been as healthy and respectable lifestyle just as people who have sex do. Many people believe to hit maturity, "innocence" must be shed to obtain such a goal. However, this is not even the case because formulated norms have always shifted from what is moral in society. Today being a virgin in college or after is either strange or rare.

Let me tell you that no matter your age, gender, or sexual preferences being a virgin or not doesn't make you any less of a person. It's important to accept everything about yourself and have confidence in your decisions, beliefs, and morals. Here are some reasons why being a virgin is nothing to get weird about:

1. Patience is a Virtue

People come and go, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. But you have the ability to make genuine relationships with others and you know when you like a person. You take the time to put effort with people and that is a great quality because you aren't dubious. Men or women, you show true trust.

2. Desirable

Whether it's the guy you are seeing or the girl that you've been dating for some time, they should respect your choice and find this fact even more attractive. It shows that you are worth the work and you take yourself and others seriously.

3. Healthy Decisions

Not having to freak out about forgetting to take your birth control or worrying about condom breakage. You are stress free when it comes to your genital well being. No diseases or accidental pregnancies. Even your mentality is off the charts, you know where your priorities lie and not getting sucked in to ugly relationships with bad people.

4. Close Relationships

Telling the truth about being a virgin to the people you like makes it easier to hold positive and earnest conversations. You aren't holding anything back and letting them understand who you are is totally okay.

5. Reality

There are some people that may carry different view points on why they have never had sex, whether it's religious, idealistic, or just personal reasons. It's important to respect everyone's opinion and choice. Put yourself in another's shoes and understand.

Remember having sex doesn't define you but rather it describes the traits that are apart of you. Not a lot of people are proud to admit that they are virgins, however I hope that the qualities above help to accept yourself a bit more. Carry them with confidence and you are sure to have some of the greatest people that will support you in every way.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
