Like many freshman, I didn't want to overwhelm myself by taking too many hours my first semester in college. However, unless you take 15 hours a semester, EVERY semester, then you're looking at a few summer school sessions. While some people are fortunate enough to get to stay in their college town and take their summer classes while getting to go to the pool, to the bars and hang out with their friends, the rest of us weren't so fortunate and had to go home to....community college.
Now, let me be the first to state, there is nothing wrong with going to community college. It's a LOT cheaper, for one, and it's the perfect place if you're just not in the right mindset yet to go off to school. But for those of us who did go away to school, coming back to go to a place where there's the possibility of being in the same class as people from high school that you were finally free of is kind of a nightmare. Not to mention, if you were unlucky enough not to be able to take online classes but are stuck having to put clothes on and physically go to class. I mean, who really wants to put on clothes when you can take an online class and do your homework in your pajamas? Summer school for anyone sucks. Summer is supposed to be full of vacations, swimming, and relaxing not studying, tests and not being able to make plans with your friends because of class.
While in the middle of the suck fest, it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel but we just have to remember, we are doing this for a reason. We're taking summer school to get ahead on our degrees, to work on ourselves so that we can be the true HBICs we were meant to be. Stay strong through the summer y'all.
