Happiness: it is that feeling so delicate yet resilient. It’s delicate in the sense that it could be destroyed in the matter of seconds, with something, so unexpected and detrimental, obliterating your sense of normality, stability and happiness. But it is resilient because it can truly lift you up and repair you—tried-and-true—from any disasters, bringing you that silver lining in your gray, cloudy world. When you see it, that sliver of light, though as tiny as it may be, has already worked its magic, presenting the much-needed hope and guidance to your lost self. Though it may take some time, it will soon cut through the thick layers of sorrow and trouble, bringing in the blue sky and chirping songbirds.
Happiness: it is that smile you get when your heart decides to fully take in all the warmth and love from your significant other, your dear friends and the people who simply exude joy and light. You suddenly feel less lonely in the world because you know that there are people right beside you who will encourage you along the way and will help you out when you are in a tight spot. They will make sure you are doing all right (and beyond) by offering the tiniest actions in their perspective—but these little things mean so much to you. You may be afraid that your loved ones have gone too much out of their way to care for you but that is simply false. You are as important to them as they are to you, so they will do whatever it takes to make you happy again. Because of the unlimited support you experienced yourself, you swear to be on the other side if one of your loved ones is going through a similar time because that’s what friends do—lean on each other when life gets hard.
Happiness: it is that returned regular self that has been hiding deep inside your troubled mind. Before, everything seemed more grim, mundane and gray, and the energy and drive weren’t there anymore. But you slowly realized that this just isn’t who you are. And you asked yourself, “What happened?” As time went on, you healed, and you noticed some things. The cackles reappear in conversations, the careless public singing comes back out, the dirty humor shows up constantly in dialogues and the lightness in your heart just becomes more and more prominent. Of course, it is a new battle every day, but the positivity sums up and starts to have a bigger impact from day to day. One day, you step outside into the beautiful weather and recognize that something came back into your life: it's happiness, the magical feeling when you tell yourself that everything will be OK.
