Hey you,
Between all of the tweets, Facebook posts and social media outlets, it has come to my attention that everyone is supposed to be heartless in an effort to be trendy. You, on the other hand, care way too much to be that way.
Your friends tell you you’re too sensitive and that you can’t be nice to people because it’ll crush you. And on some level, they’re right. People, unfortunately, do have the ability to make you feel worthless and small.
However, never let anyone say you “care too much."
Let me explain.
You probably have no idea when you started to be that person. The person to ask people how they’re doing. The person to give everything you have to see others happy. The person who decides to randomly get their entire class cookies one day, just for the simple fact that it might brighten someone’s day. Your intentions are pure and no one can take that from you.
I’m not sure where along the way, caring too much became a bad thing. Why is showing another human being compassion and love, a bad thing? You can’t care too much about someone. I think it is extremely hard to stop caring for someone. But just because you care about them, it doesn’t mean that you necessarily will get hurt. Caring for someone is wanting what’s best for them even when they can’t see that for themselves.
Sometimes, the most negative angry person in the world just wants one person to reach out and say “I care about you and I’m here for you if you need it.” Sounds so simple yet so many people have so much trouble saying it. So I’m here to tell you to keep caring so unconditionally for other people. Don’t let the world harden your edges and make you wish you were a different person. Don’t let other people that reject your care make you think that fact about you is a wrong one.
You are so incredibly important and so far and few that you need to hold onto that part of you. Hold onto your gift and spread it wherever you can. Care as much as you can, you never know who might need it.
