I am a tomboy. By definition, a tomboy is a girl who enjoys rough, noisy activities traditionally associated with boys. I like rough housing, getting dirty, fart jokes, and being loud. I'm not saying that being a girly girl is a bad thing, nor am I incapable of being one, just that being a tomboy is so much better and it's where I feel most like myself.
1. Guy Friends.
When you're a tomboy, you're more likely to chum it up with the guys. Most of my friends are guys that I've played sports with. Guy friends never judge the way you look, are actually really great for advice, and are decent competition for video games (usually).
2. No one expects you to look a certain way.
This is probably my favorite thing about being a tomboy. There is no pressure to wear makeup, skirts, dresses, or heels. I could literally walk out of the house in sweatpants and sweat shirt every day and no one would bat an eye. It's awesome.
3. But when you do look good. Man, do you look good.
Sure we usually don't like to dress up, but sometimes the occasion just calls for a dress, bomb heels, and some makeup. My favorite thing is when all my guy friends are confused and don't know who I am, just because they're not used to seeing me like that.
4. You usually excel at sports.
You're either the person being fought over, the captain calling the shots, or the person every other team is worried about. Because we're normally okay with getting a little rough, we love physical sports. I grew up playing hockey with all the guys, and because I'd get rough with them they wouldn't baby me because I was a girl.
I'm not saying that being a tomboy is better than being a girly girl or any other kind of girl there is out there, but it definitely has its perks.
