There is a moment in everyone’s life when you feel as if you’re climbing the steepest mountain. The trek is unrelenting and the climb is a constant struggle. You have dirt and grime underneath your nails, scraped up knees and twigs in your hair; yet you are still climbing. It has taken everything just to make it this far and there is still a bit left to go. Sweat is pouring down your face and all you want to do is stop and rest, but you know you have to keep going. For anyone struggling with something in their life, this is how it feels everyday just to reach their goal.
Whether it is sleepless nights to finish that degree, working hard at your job to gain a promotion, or fighting against something you know to be wrong, never give up. Keep moving forward, even if it’s only little things. Set some realistic goals for yourself and help yourself and the world around you be a better place one step at a time. I know the last thing any person struggling wants to hear is “it’s not about the destination, but about the journey” because when you’re in the thick of it and can’t quite see the light at the end of the tunnel, you definitely don’t want anyone telling you that this is the best part. However, this tremendous task that you have set for yourself is what makes you who you are. The way you deal with stress and are able to continue even when things look grim is what shows your true character. Like my girl Miley said, “it’s all about the climb.”
I have learned the hard way that you cannot struggle alone. Find your rock. Your constant. Your person. Something to hold onto when it’s dark and you may need help. It is not a sign of weakness to ever ask for help, surround yourself with positive vibes and people who are just as motivated or ambitious as you. Choose these people wisely because when it gets most difficult on that steep incline, you are going to want the best to support you. We live in a society where people are too quick to say “not my problem” or “that doesn’t affect me.” But the truth of the matter is that one person’s struggle is all of our struggle. It’s time that we helped those who are struggling even if it is the smallest of gestures.
When all else fails, have faith in yourself. You have come so far from where you began and you can continue to achieve your goals. It’s important to remember that you have made it this far and you can’t stop now. The mountain you face may seem daunting and unconquerable, but once you face your fears and reach that summit, the view will be beautiful.
