Why Açai Bowls Are The New Craze
Daniel Coffey

When millennials, like myself, are introduced to something they really enjoy we tend to bring the obsession to a new level. This summer, the new craze is açai bowls. If you were to check Snapchat or Instagram, right now, you would most likely find at least seven people giving their açai bowl a photoshoot. If you don’t know what they are, they are basically a thick smoothie topped with your choice of different fruits, granola, coconut, peanut butter or even Nutella. They make the perfect breakfast option, and give you the perfect start to your day. If you haven’t gotten the pleasure of experiencing one of these beautifully created smoothie bowls, I would 10 out of 10 recommended you try one.

Many people wonder if these alluring concoctions are actually healthy. Of course, it all truly comes down to your decisions toppings-wise. Also remember everything in moderation! Nutritionists refer to the berry as a super-food. Although they contain a lot of sugar, they do surprisingly, have many health benefits. The sugar is natural from the fruit placed on top, but the bowl does contain a large amount antioxidants. There also is an insane amount of fiber, plus the berry acts as great aid for digestion. I wouldn't have more than one a day because you'll probably be sitting on the toilet for a while -- just looking out for you.The açai berries promotes skin health and, if eaten regularly, can give you natural and glowing skin. There are countless other health benefits including weight loss, heart heath, immunity boosting, mental function and anti-aging effects.

Most people think that the bowl is just mashed up açai, but it actually contains much more. There are so many different ways to make the smoothie part, but it can be very difficult. It is important to get the perfect consistency because it is eaten with a spoon and not sipped with a straw. Most bowls are made with additional bananas and strawberries, but some contain apple juice, coconut milk or almond milk. You could use your creative minds and create different versions with insane add-ins, if you pleased. The fruit placed on top is the best part. My personal favorite toppings are pineapple, mango, granola, strawberries and Nutella.

You can find açai bowls at any local juice shop, or make one yourself! If you are interested in making your own, head over to Pinterest to find recipes. If you want to go to a shop, you are destined to find a location near whichever beach you vacation at. They seem to be the most popular down the Shore, but are making their way into plenty of other locations.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
