There is so much stress that goes into our world that it seems harder to find happiness. Relaxing becomes scheduled, and the pressure of being perfect is just too high. I am always surprised that everyone seems to have their life figured out at seventeen while I am still trying to figure out my major. If school wasn't enough pressure there are always outside stress. Whether it is family drama or work drama there is always a reason to become stressed out and unhappy. As someone who has experienced all of these pressures here are some ways to stay positive in the middle of a crazy life.

1. Fake it until you make it

I know that this sounds dumb, but it actually works. If you convince yourself to be happy you will be. This will not happen overnight, but if you choose happiness it will come to you.

2. Make a plan for yourself

It is OK to have no idea what you want to do for the rest of your life -- it is OK to not to solve every problem -- it is OK! Sometimes I want to take on every stress that happens in other people's lives. This is not necessary you are not the world's doctor. Instead, put your energy into yourself and make a plan for yourself.

3. Do things that make you happy

Sometimes people will push you into doing things that you would rather not do. It is okay to try new things every once in awhile, but it is important to also focus on what makes you happy. Do activities, crafts, other stuff that bring joy to you.

4. Make a difference

Volunteer work actually brings so much joy. There are so many ways that you can be useful in the community. This is a great way to feel wanted, and to also help others who really need it. Volunteering allows you to experience a new perspective on how to appreciate the little things in life.

5. Take time for yourself

It is really important to not fill up your plate too much. You have to be able to take time for yourself, and do something you enjoy. For me, shopping brings me joy so, when I had my wisdom teeth pulled out I would pick something out for myself. Shopping is something that brings me joy, but for you, it could be anything bicycling, knitting etc. Spend time with yourself, and make sure to make yourself happy.

6. Exercise

Exercise is a great way to release stress. It is a great way to get in shape for the summer too. Exercise does not have to be crazy, though. I like to take walks every day and talk with my friends. I would call that my kind of exercise. As long as your up and moving around it counts.

7. Get rid of stressors

Life will give you a lot of stressors, and sometimes you cannot get rid of them. Some stressors you can not get rid of. If there is something going on at home or at school it is good to get rid of less important things that you might have going on. For example, if your Grandma died you might want to cancel a party you set up. Do not feel bad about getting rid of stressors. People may try to pressure you to do too many things, but you need to make sure you are taking care of yourself first.

8. Get some sunshine

Sometimes when I get overwhelmed it helps to go outside and get some fresh air. Unfortunately, in Minnesota, we do not get to go outside as much as Californians. It is important to go outside and get some sunshine while you can. Sunshine gives you vitamin D which helps support your immune system and helps you feel healthier and happier. The lack of Vitamin D in Minnesota gives you a good excuse to go to Florida over winter break!

9. Rely on your friends

It is important to have good people around you especially when you're feeling very stressed. People who are there to support you. It is important for your friends to understand that you need time to yourself and not pressure you into doing too many things at once. You also need friends who will be understandable to your needs and respectful of your wants. In turn, you can also be respectful of their wants and needs, and you can become closer as friends.

10. Have Faith

Know that you are not alone everyone goes through stressful times. Life will hand you stress all the time, and it is important to know how you react to it and resolve it. It also helps to pray and have faith that you will get better. Know that everything that happens in your life has a higher purpose. Sometimes bad things will happen for no good reason, but maybe, in the end, that situation will make you a better person, and that is something to smile about.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
