A lot of people hate it, and I used to be one of those people.
You're always told that it will go by in the blink of an eye, but you never believe it until it's your very last day. It didn't hit me until I walked down the halls for the very last time as a student.
There were good days but there were also bad days. Luckily for me, the good overshadowed the bad. I hope it's like that for you too.
You meet so many people throughout your high school career. Some of those people make a bigger impact than others. Some of the biggest impacts for me came from my English teachers. Hamlet is practically carved into my brain. Thanks, Mrs. Morris. "To Kill A Mockingbird" may have had a really slow start but it definitely teaches a great life lesson. So, thank you Mr. Shurtz for making us read it. And even though I hated writing a class starter every single morning for Mrs. Stotlar's English class, I had a new life lesson almost everyday. So, thanks Mrs. Stotlar for forcing me to use my brain before 8:30 a.m.
A lot of people say that I will miss high school, and I used to say they were crazy, but I don't anymore. I will miss it. I'll miss my cooking class and how everyone was freaking out and laughing hysterically when the oven caught on fire one day. I wouldn't want to do it again though. Because even though there were some great times, there were some bad ones as well, that I don't ever want to relive.
I'll miss the friendships I've made over the long four years that I was there. They don't lie when they say a lot of friendships will end once you graduate. I already don't talk to half of the friends I had. Those friendships are what got me through most days. We may not talk ever again, but they all have such bright futures ahead of them.
A few things that I definitely won't miss about high school is all of the sexist comments, the ridiculous dress code and the outrageous amount of homework some teachers would give out. I also won't miss the teachers never getting my name right. All there is is a stupid E at the end. It's really not that hard, it's a silent E.
I want to leave a small important note to the incoming freshmen, the soon to be seniors and everyone else who is going through high school right now. Cherish every memory you make in that high school. Take time to go to the dances, pep sessions and games. They may seem stupid at the time but they are so worth is. Just go and have fun with your friends.
Also, make sure your friends know just how much you appreciate them. Because in a blink of an eye they could be taken away from you. Make the four years you have there to be worth remembering. Hang out with your friends whenever you get the chance.
Befriend the shy kids and be nice to the people around you because you're stuck with them for the next four years.
Most importantly, make these next four years memorable because they go by so fast.
