With the Thanksgiving holiday over, the Christmas boom has finally hit in full force, even before Thanksgiving was over the tree was up in Spokane's "River Park Square" mall and Christmas music could be found on most stations. I like the holiday season but there are a few dislikes I have that would paint me as green as the Grinch.
1) Crowds: Yes, I know they're everywhere but I feel like the amount of people crammed into a mall or a store intensifies during the holidays.
2) Black Friday: Before Thanksgiving even ended there was ads all over television and internet. It's crazy and I admire those who brave the crowds early in the morning for the best deal. I'll just wait fro it to die down until I go to the store. If I have too
3) Secret Santa: I know you're probably thinking "How the hell can you dislike secret Santa?" Well I'll tell you. I don't mind the social aspect of Secret Santa but what gives me the most anxiety is if you are tasked with finding something for someone you barely know.
4) Chopping Down A Tree: My family does this every year and while I don't necessarily mind once I'm up on the mountain breathing fresh mountain air, there is still no way in hell I'll be happy about getting up out of bed to leave in the morning.
5) Black Ice: With winter comes fresh fallen snow, with snow comes slush, cold wind and ice and with that you get black ice. Me plus ice equals a failed attempt at ever being part of the winter Olympics or Disney on Ice.
While i have a few dislikes about the upcoming holiday season. I can tell you that what I like about it far outweighs this list. I love shopping for my loved ones and finding something they enjoy. I always try and do something like "The Tree Of Sharing" where you buy a gift for someone you don't know. I love the hot chocolate, the fresh fallen snow and the festive holiday cheer. So fellow readers, what do you like or dislike about the holidays.
